Essential Job Duties:

As the TRIO Talent Search Program Coordinator you will facilitate educational and social development enrichment activities for middle and high school program participants. In this role you will provide participants with an educational environment conducive to obtaining a high school diploma and assisting with preparation to gain entry into a post-secondary institution.
Responsibilities:

Student Advising & Support Services

  • Provide program resources and services to ensure personal, vocational, and educational success
  • Provide academic assistance to specified students in caseload
  • Identify academic needs for each participant and address those needs
  • Assist participants with the college application and financial aid process
Academic Coordination & Monitoring
  • Coordinate and support academic programming for both Talent Search programs
  • Monitor academic performance (transcripts, report cards, etc.)
  • Ensure accuracy of each student’s academic progress
Program Planning & Participant Engagement
  • Plan educational and personal growth activities for participants
  • Coordinate activities to expose students to future career opportunities
Recruitment & Outreach
  • Visit all schools within assigned caseload
  • Recruit program participants within target schools
Data Management & Compliance
  • Maintain student’s academic records and files securely
  • Keep participant’s contact information up to date
Staff Hiring, Training & Development
  • Assist with summer personnel hiring process (interviews, hiring decisions)

Other Responsibilities:

  • Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the organization and evolving priorities
  • Ability to travel
  • Work extended week day hours and weekends occasionally, approximately once a month

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Require post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor’s degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience may be substituted for the advanced degree on an exceptional basis.

Other Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Counseling, Social Science or equivalent field plus relevant professional training and/or experience.
  • Experience in academic skill development, counseling and working with a variety of students.
  • Database software proficiency.
  • Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office Word, Publisher and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient knowledge in utilizing social media technology as a professional tool.
  • Ability to work independently, handle ambiguity, manage multiple projects, schedules and deadlines, as well as possess good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to network with on campus constituents, targeted community members, and public school personnel.
