The Maintenance Technician performs skilled trades and custodial duties in the performance of repairs and maintenance of buildings Housing & Residential Life facilities. Provide training and supervision to temporary & student staff. Regularly inspect facilities and promptly address repair and custodial issues.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience:
Requires accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program and no prior work experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials:
Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
3 years of experience in Housing Facilities Management.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Working knowledge of HVAC tools, equipment & materials used in maintenance applicable to the job, especially HVAC. Working knowledge of techniques, methods & practices of designated trades. Skill in use of tools & equipment. Ability to read, understand and interpret plans & specifications. Familiar with most current HVAC practices. Ability to understand and carry out routine oral and written instructions. Communicate effectively both in writing and verbally. Work in an environment with students, faculty and administration while maintaining appropriate behavior. Employee will receive annual OSHA and Facilities Maintenance training. HR 1.95, Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy requires pre-employment drug screen. HR 1.90, Job Reference and Background Checks requires a good driving record and successful background check.
Job Duties:
Job Duties Job Duty Perform routine maintenance repairs (light bulbs, air-filters, paint, locks, doors, windows and other building components, air-condition adjustments minor electrical and plumbing repairs). Document action taken on work orders on computer in School Dude. Maintains trash compactor weekly. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 50 Job Duty Maintain and/or repair furniture, appliances, and maintenance equipment. Minor repairs to damaged drywall. Schedule and monitor maintenance contractors. Document action taken on work orders on computer in School Dude. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 40 Job Duty Perform job functions during severe weather and after-hour emergencies as assigned by Facilities Management / HRL maintenance supervisor. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 5 Job Duty Other duties as assigned by Facilities Management / HRL Maintenance Supervisor. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 5
