Assistant Professor School Psychology

The School Psychology program, within the Department of Education and Human Services, at Lehigh University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor with a specialization in intervention research with neurodiverse populations. The anticipated start date of the position will be Fall 2027. 

The individual hired will be expected to teach coursework that aligns with the APA and NASP accredited School Psychology program curriculum including topics related to: health/pediatric school psychology, school-wide programs to address health care needs of students, child psychopathology, and/or advanced school and family interventions, at the graduate level. There will also be opportunities for the faculty member to teach classes in the Board Certified Behavior Analysis program within the broader College of Education (if they hold the BCBA credential). The candidate will  engage in scholarly activities, and participate in program, departmental, college, and university service. The ideal candidate will have experience obtaining external funding or have experience pursuing external funding to support their research activities and to support preparation of graduate students.

Lehigh University’s College of Education has five programs, including Counseling Psychology; Educational Leadership; School Psychology; Special Education; and Teaching, Learning, and Technology. The College and University houses many opportunities for inter-disciplinary collaboration including the Center for Promoting Research to Practice, Lehigh University Autism Services, the Center for Community-Driven Assistive Technologies, and the Centennial School. 

The School Psychology program prepares EdS and PhD level school psychologists. The program is accredited by the American Psychological Association and approved by the National Association of School Psychologists. Students are taught and mentored through an eco-behavioral model in which they are prepared to engage in problem-solving and data-based decision making to support the delivery of evidence-based practices within tiered systems of support. The School Psychology program also allows students to earn a specialization in Pediatric School Psychology and faculty frequently collaborate with regional hospitals including the Lehigh Valley Health Network and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. 

Qualifications

Candidates must have earned a PhD in School Psychology or a closely related field by the date of employment. Candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain licensure as a Psychologist in Pennsylvania. In addition, candidates must hold or be eligible to hold National Certification as a School Psychologist (NCSP). Successful candidates will have applied or research based experience working in settings that frequently collaborate with schools (e.g., hospitals, pediatric clinics, community agencies, head start programs etc.).
