Job Summary
The Chabot - Las Positas Community College District is seeking a PT Librarian for Chabot College.  Chabot College is seeking a part-time librarian for morning and afternoon in person hours. However, assigned shifts can also include evenings. Chabot Librarians teach effective research strategies in print and online resources through library instructional sessions and reference services, serving a diverse student population. Candidates must have demonstrated instructional skills in the classroom (e.g., in-person, synchronous, asynchronous), and at the reference desk (in-person and online) to join our outstanding team of librarians and classified professionals.

Duties and Responsibilities: 
1.    Candidates must have demonstrated instructional skills in the classroom (e.g., in-person, synchronous, asynchronous) and at the reference desk (in-person and online) to join our outstanding team of librarians and classified professionals.
2.    Demonstrated success in working with students from historically underrepresented and/or marginalized groups, nontraditional students, speakers of other languages, and students with learning differences in an academic setting.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s in library science, library and information science OR the equivalent.

Evidence of understanding of and responsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices within the classroom. 

Applicants applying under the “Equivalent” provision must provide details that explain at time of application how their academic preparation is the equivalent of the degree listed above. 

Desirable Qualifications:
1. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills;
2. Experience in providing information/reference services, preferably in an academic setting;
3. Knowledge of or experience delivering database instruction in synchronous and asynchronous   modalities; 
4. Enthusiastic approach to working collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff; 
5. Working knowledge of integrated library systems, ideally Ex Libris’ Alma and Primo;
6. Familiarity with instructional technologies (e.g., LibGuides, Canvas, Zoom, etc.)
