Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; weekends may be required.
Job Summary: The Greek House Director manages day-to-day operations and staff for a Greek residential facility.
Additional Department Summary: This position is a twelve-month, live-in position responsible for providing comprehensive operational and residential management of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority facility. The position oversees day-to-day house operations to maintain a safe, welcoming, respectful, and well-maintained living environment for residents and guests. Responsibilities include food service and kitchen management; procurement, ordering, and inventory; budgeting and financial recordkeeping; facility maintenance and repairs; routine services and deliveries; and coordination of safety, security, and facility inspections. The position establishes, maintains, and follows internal processes and controls in accordance with University of Alabama policies and procedures and maintains accountability for accurate financial and operational reporting.
Provides functional leadership and oversight of house staff and/or hired vendors, which may include recruitment, hiring, training, performance management, scheduling, and ongoing supervision in accordance with applicable University and chapter policies. Holds staff accountable for completing required training and following established operational, safety, and service standards. Completes all required training and promotes a safe, hospitable, and respectful residential environment. Works collaboratively with House Corporation leadership, University departments, vendors, and other partners to ensure facility and residential operations comply with applicable University, organizational, local, health, life-safety, and security requirements.
Serves as a consistent resource and primary point of contact for residents, House Corporation representatives, alumni/ae, volunteers, parents, vendors, University officials, and other external constituents. Promotes a positive residential experience by fostering an engaging and receptive community, participating in resident meals and chapter functions, and communicating expectations, house needs, and operational practices. Maintains regular accessibility to address operational needs and respond to emergencies and critical incidents, including following established emergency procedures to notify appropriate local authorities and University officials and provide direction to staff while maintaining a resident-focused approach. Participates in Fraternity & Sorority Life training and meetings, contributes to assessment and continuous improvement of the residential experience, and conducts and documents routine safety checks and required reporting.
Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED.
Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of computers and software such as Excel and Word in addition to email capabilities. Demonstrates commitment to supporting all students.
