Job Description:

Reclaimed water is a vital part of Florida's water conservation efforts. As people use their reclaimed irrigation systems, water improperly applied can leach or run off, causing increased loading into local lakes, rivers, and streams. UF/IFAS is seeking a motivated professional to assist with final grant deliverables, development of educator resources, identification of future municipal, utility, and Extension partners, and preparation of the final project report. This position will help transition the established Reclaiming Water curriculum to future educators and communities throughout Florida.

Responsibilities:

The Program Assistant (PA) will work with the Principal Investigator (PI) to identify municipal, utility, and Extension professionals interested in implementing the Reclaiming Water curriculum in their local communities and will develop and maintain contact lists to support future program delivery and educator training. Expectations will also include supporting the delivery of a couple of final workshops, which could entail mailing the associated flipbook. The PA will also work with the PI to create the final FDEP grant report for submission in the summer of 2027.

Deliverables and Documentation:

The Program Assistant (PA) will assist the Principal Investigator (PI) with the completion of grant deliverables, project documentation, educator resources, and final reporting requirements. Deliverables include, but are not limited to:

  • Professional Contact Network: Develop and maintain a contact list of municipal, utility, and Extension professionals interested in implementing the established Reclaiming Water Program and curriculum.
  • Grant Records and Supporting Documentation: Compile project records and supporting materials from completed public education activities, including:
  • Final printed materials and distribution records;
  • Approved social media materials and screenshots;
  • Workshop materials, notices, agendas, meeting notes, and sign-in sheets;
  • Project videos and multimedia resources;
  • Effectiveness surveys and summaries of results; and
  • Documentation describing campaign development activities, implementation processes, findings, and outcomes.
  • Educator Replication Resources: Assist with the development and submission of:
  • A How-To Guidance Document for replicating the project in other areas of Florida;
  • A packet of completed educational materials available for reuse;
  • An example effectiveness survey or monitoring tool; and
  • Materials for the Nonpoint Source Publication Tool.
  • Review and Approval Coordination: Ensure draft materials are submitted to the PI and grantor for required review and approval by FDEP prior to public distribution.
  • Final Project Report: Work with PI to prepare a draft Final Report summarizing project activities, outcomes, and grant deliverables. The report will include:
  • Project background, location, timeline, grant award amount, and anticipated benefits;
  • Financial summary and budget reconciliation;
  • Comparison of planned versus completed project activities;
  • Summary of completed and outstanding tasks;
  • Photographs, figures, tables, and supporting attachments;
  • Campaign development activities and outcomes; and
  • Evaluation of education campaign effectiveness, including survey results and audience reach metrics.
  • Expected Salary:

    $20 per hour; commensurate within this range based on qualification and experience.

    Required Qualifications:

    Proficient in data management systems, spreadsheets, word processing/presentation/email systems. Examples: Microsoft Word, Teams, Excel, Power Point, Adobe, Outlook.

    Able to meet deadlines and work independently by organizing and coordinating work assignments in a cohesive plan.
