Job Description

Schedule: Varies - Typically 9am to 5pm weekdays and weekends

Position Summary

The On Call Galley Guard maintains security of the gallery and gallery procedures. Must be willing to work additional hours if work is available.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and security of the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center.
  
  
• Patrol designated area throughout the gallery or lobby.
  
  
• Provide excellent visitor services by responding to inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
  
  
• Uphold museum rules of security with the public, staff, and contractors to prevent theft, fire, damage, and personal injury.
  
  
• Supervise and support student attendants.
  
  
• Monitor and report safety or facilities conditions.
  
  
• Assist maintaining gallery procedures.
  
  

Required knowledge, skills and abilities

• Prior security experience or a combination of training and experience in a related field.
  
  
• New York State Security Guard certification.
  
  
• Ability to communicate well in English, both verbal and written.
  
  
• Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time.
  
  
• Ability to interact effectively with a diverse community.
  
  

Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities

• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, ADA and other required federal, state and local regulations.
  
  

Compensation

$23.87 per hour
