The Department of Classification and Compensation coordinates the university’s staff job classification process. We help establish new staff positions and reclassify existing ones. We also assist with compensation ranges and strategic job design.

The department of Classification and Compensation at Georgia State University seeks to hire an experienced Compensation Analyst I to join our team.

  • WHAT WILL YOU DO:

    This position will assist with the coordination of a campus wide classification and compensation program for staff employees. 

    KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:

    ·        Processes classification and compensation requests related to reclassifications and/or pay changes on a first in/first out basis.

    ·        Conducts analysis of internal and market equity.

    ·        Assists with classifying new and existing staff positions; discusses recommendations with managers and supervisors.

    ·        Assists with the revisions and/or development of job specifications for new and existing positions.

    ·        Updates internal class & comp documentation accordingly.

    ·        Assists with conducting workshops and training sessions on classification and compensation systems, policies and procedures.

    ·        Assists with monitoring the class & comp email box to address inquires and provide general assistance.

    ·        May assist the team with conducting desk audits, internal offers, and comprehensive classification reviews for a given unit or department.

    ·        Assists in the development of classification and compensation polices, procedures, and manuals (internal and external).

    ·        Assist with special projects.

    ·        Performs other duties as assigned.



    Qualifications

    Minimum Hiring Qualifications: 

    Bachelor's degree and one year of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience

    Preferred Hiring Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • One to three years of professional experience in compensation, classification, or a closely related area.
  • Experience in higher education, state agency or a similarly complex organizational environment.
  • Experience conducting market pricing, salary analysis, job evaluation, and classification reviews.
  • Knowledge of compensation principles, salary administration practices, and internal equity analysis.
  • Experience interpreting and applying HR policies, procedures, and employment regulations.

Degrees are offered at the bachelor’s, master’s, specialist and doctoral levels through six units: the College of Arts and Sciences, J. Mack Robinson College of Business, College of Education, College of Health and Human Sciences, College of Law and Andrew Young School of Policy Studies. In addition to the numerous degree programs, Georgia State offers full- and part-time programs and day, evening and weekend classes.

    Students have many choices in extracurricular activities including more than 22 fraternities and sororities; and some 250 chartered student groups, including 60 degree-related student groups, seven religious, 24 law-oriented and 22 multicultural/international groups; and 10 honor societies. There is also an active student government association which includes the student senate and the judicial board.

    The Georgia State Panthers are members of the Colonial Athletic Association and compete in 16 NCAA Division I intercollegiate men’s and women’s sports, including basketball, baseball, softball, golf, tennis, track and volleyball. The university announced in April 2008 that is will begin Division I-AA football in 2010.

    The university’s innovative Touch the Earth program brings outdoor recreation ranging from backpacking, rock climbing, sailing, kayaking, rafting and water-skiing to out-of-state snow-skiing and snorkeling trips. And WRAS, Georgia State’s popular 100,000-watt radio voice, is the most powerful student-run radio station in the United States.
