ResponsibilitiesThis position serves as the Graduate Academic Program Specialist to the Computer Science Department, coordinating all administrative aspects of the graduate program.
In this position, you will be responsible for:
- Development and delivery of graduate student support services such as recruitment, admissions, retention, progress monitoring and evaluation, portfolio collection and validation for exams and defenses, fellowship eligibility, tuition waivers, and assisting with policy development and interpretation.
- Serving as primary point of contact for prospective and current graduate students regarding graduate program requirements, academics, and admission.
- Ensuring students meet residency requirements and working with the Center for Global Engagement (CGE) regarding visa issues with international students.
- Maintaining timely updates in the Graduate Student Tracking database based on student progress, as well as maintaining internal databases used for data retention and analysis for administrative planning and survey requests, preparing reports on recruitment and retention to support Academic Program Chair, faculty committees, and department administration.
- Serving as department liaison between recruitment agencies, hiring managers and future graduates.
- Supporting department graduate student recruitment by promoting and marketing of the graduate program, developing department brochures and flyers, assisting in coordinating recruitment event organization, and corresponding with potential graduate students.
The Graduate Academic Program Specialist plays a crucial role in the success of the Department of Computer Science. By serving in this position, you will contribute directly to the success of the academic teaching and research efforts at Florida State University!
QualificationsA Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: post-high school education may substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)

- Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives
- Ability to interpret academic program requirements and provide advice
- Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously
- Knowledge of academic resources available to students
- Knowledge of admissions, registration and graduation requirements
- Knowledge of principles and practices of academic program planning, development, and evaluation
- Knowledge of university admissions processes

Anticipated starting salary for the position is in the mid-$40,000's.
