Should a review of your application result in the intent to pursue your candidacy, you will be contacted by phone or email for an interview.Position SummaryThe Instructional Designer drives instructional excellence by partnering with faculty to design engaging, accessible, and effective learning experiences across face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses. Leads instructional design innovation through faculty coaching, course quality assessment, emerging technologies, and data-informed strategies that strengthen teaching and student success.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCollaborates with faculty to design, develop, and improve courses using instructional design principles, measurable learning outcomes, authentic assessments, and evidence-based teaching practices.Evaluates course quality using the Blackboard Exemplary Course Program Rubric and Quality Matters-informed practices, providing actionable recommendations for improvement.Develops and delivers faculty training, individualized coaching, and instructional resources supporting course design, assessment, student engagement, and educational technology.Promotes responsible use of generative AI and emerging instructional technologies while addressing accessibility, privacy, academic integrity, and instructional effectiveness.Analyzes LMS data, student performance, course reviews, and stakeholder feedback to guide continuous course improvement.Develops accessible course templates, instructional resources, and best practices supporting consistent, inclusive learning experiences.Coordinates instructional design projects, collaborates with campus stakeholders, and supports Distance Education initiatives.Performs other duties as assigned.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in instructional design, curriculum and instruction, educational technology, adult learning, education, or a closely related field.Two (2) two years of professional experience in instructional design, course development, faculty development, or a closely related area.Demonstrated experience consulting with faculty or subject-matter experts to design or improve online, hybrid, or technology-enhanced courses and facilitating faculty professional development.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSMaster's degree in a related field.Higher education experience.Experience applying formal course quality standards, conducting course reviews, or supporting continuous course improvement. Familiarity with the Blackboard Exemplary Course Program Rubric and Quality Matters principles.Experience with Blackboard Ultra.Bilingual – English/Spanish.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESStrong knowledge of instructional design, adult learning principles, course alignment, authentic assessment, and evidence-based teaching practices.Proficiency with learning management systems, instructional technologies, and responsible AI-supported instruction.Knowledge of course quality standards, learning analytics, digital accessibility, and inclusive design practices, including ADA, Section 508, and WCAG principles.Strong faculty coaching, training, communication, collaboration, and project management skills, with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality and FERPA compliance.Disclaimer:This job posting is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and is not a complete list of all duties, responsibilities, or qualifications required for the position.
