Manage facilities operations and real estate services for GTRI. Responsibilities include oversight of day-to-day building operations, mission-critical data center operations, preventive and corrective maintenance, custodial and grounds services, service desk/work order management, vendor performance, and utilities and infrastructure stewardship. The role also oversees owned and leased property portfolio activities, including lease administration, property management coordination, support for real estate strategy, facility condition assessment, and lifecycle planning. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations. This position will interact on a consistent basis with GTRI management and staff, contractors, vendors, landlords, and campus support units. This position typically will advise and counsel GTRI leadership. This position will supervise: Assigned staff.
ResponsibilitiesJob Duty 1 -
Plan and oversee day-to-day facilities operations for GTRI locations, including building operations, service delivery, and operational support functions.
Job Duty 2 -
Manage operations for mission-critical data center facilities, including power, cooling, environmental controls, redundancy, uptime, reliability, and continuity of operations.
Job Duty 3 -
Manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs for buildings, grounds, utilities, infrastructure, and data center support systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
Job Duty 4 -
Oversee custodial, grounds, exterior services, service desk/work order management, and other outsourced facilities services to ensure responsiveness, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Job Duty 5 -
Manage vendor and contractor performance for facilities and data center-related services to ensure compliance, service continuity, and effective operational support.
Job Duty 6 -
Direct management of the owned and leased property portfolio, including property management coordination, lease administration, and support for real estate strategy and portfolio optimization.
Job Duty 7 -
Oversee utilities and infrastructure stewardship, facility condition assessments, and lifecycle planning to support long-range reliability, renewal, and capital planning to support long-range reliability, renewal, and investment needs.
Job Duty 8 -
Plan, organize, and supervise staff activities and lead initiatives related to safety, regulatory compliance, energy efficiency, business continuity, and continuous improvement in facilities and data center operations.
Job Duty 9 -
Perform other related job duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field / equivalent experience
Required Experience
6+ years of relevant experience, including 3+ years of supervisory knowledge.
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's Degree in related field
Preferred Experience
Minimum 10 years of progressive facilities management experience
Minimum 5 years of hands-on data center design, construction, and operations experience
Professional certifications: PE, PMP, CFM, LEED AP, or CDCP/CDCS
Experience in research, laboratory, or higher education environments
Familiarity with federal contracting and compliance requirements
Knowledge of sustainable building practices and energy management
Experience with mission-critical infrastructure (Tier III/IV data centers)
KNOWLEDGE
Demonstrated experience managing large-scale construction projects ($5M+)
Proven track record in real estate transactions and lease negotiations
Strong budget management experience with multi-million-dollar portfolios
Experience with capital planning and long-range infrastructure strategy
Knowledge of building codes, life safety systems, and regulatory compliance
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Salary range is dependent on candidates experiences and skills that ranges from $96,906- $131,793.
Due to our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be U.S. Citizens.
