Job Details
The Applied AI Lab Specialist plays a key role in delivering artificial intelligence services that support both workforce development and business innovation. This position works directly with industry partners to design, scope, and execute AI-related projects, while also supporting training, consulting, and learning initiatives within the lab. The Applied AI Lab Specialist serves as a bridge between technical concepts and real-world application—helping organizations understand, evaluate, and responsibly adopt AI solutions that align with their operational goals.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Working knowledge of machine learning, generative AI, large language models, and agentic systems including practical experience with AI development frameworks and APIs.
- Proficiency in Python and demonstrated ability to build and deploy applied AI solutions.
- Skill in managing client-facing technical projects with defined deliverables and timelines.
- Ability to translate organizational problems into technical solutions and communicate AI concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to provide oversight, guidance, and feedback to junior technical staff or fellows.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, artificial intelligence, information systems, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- Minimum three (3) years of professional experience in applied AI, machine learning, or a closely related technical field.
- Experience in consulting, professional services, or workforce development preferred.
- Experience in higher education or public sector environments preferred.
This is a casual position, part-time, 15-19 hours per week - not benefit eligible. Application Details
