Job Description:
Title: Remote Learning Specialist
Unit: Part-Time MCCC Professional Staff
Department: Adult Learning Center
Reports to: Director of Adult Learning Center
Date: October 8, 2026
General Summary: The Remote Learning Specialist works as an assistant instructor in the Zoom classroom. The Remote Learning Specialist assists the instructor with Adult Basic Education math instruction, and technology needs, while adhering to DESE ABE standards. The goal of students in these classes is to achieve their high school equivalency. The role includes facilitating small group work, and troubleshooting with students, including with technology. Remote Learning Specialists need to be proficient with Zoom and its features, as well as high school level mathematics in order to be of assistance to students and the instructor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the online math instructor with class on Monday and Wednesday from 6pm-9pm (on Zoom)
- Support instructor in meeting various student needs and skill ranges to improve math literacy, with the goal of earning a high school equivalency
- Facilitate break out rooms with students during group work
- Work with students as directed by the instructor to help students access and achieve proficiency in ABE math curriculum
- Help to acclimate any new students, or those needing more specialized skill work, in break out rooms as needed
- Assist the instructor with attendance, group work and other student supports during class
- Must be proficient with Zoom features and able to troubleshoot with students
Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in area of mathematics or education
- Proficient skills on Zoom
- Experience teaching math
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching remotely
- Experience teaching adult learners
Additional Information:
This position is supported through federal grant funding. While the college is fully committed to the success of this program, continued employment in this role is contingent upon ongoing grant funding. Should federal funding change in the future, the position may be impacted.
Salary Range and Benefits: $36.55 per hour in accordance with MCC Part-Time Wage Schedule and MCCC Collective Bargaining Agreement
Hours: 3-6 hours per week; Monday/Wednesday 6pm-9pm
Expected Start Date: October/November 2026
