Classes provide rigorous and evidence-based content, and give students the opportunity to explore theory, learn intervention skills and engage in challenging dialogue with colleagues. The School of Social Work offers M.S.W. and Ph.D. degrees. Dual degrees are offered in Law, Public Health, Public Administration, and Divinity (with Duke University). The faculty members of the School of Social Work have strong collaborative relationships with many campus units such as the Schools of Medicine, Public Health, Nursing, Law, Government, Education, and the Department of City and Regional Planning as well as University Centers and Institutes such as the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research, the Carolina Population Center, the Center for Developmental Sciences, Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute, and the Institute on Aging. Position Summary:

Hybrid:
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. If business needs change, an individual employee’s designation may be adjusted with a required minimum of ten (10) business days’ notice unless employee conduct or safety issues necessitate otherwise at the discretion of management.

The BSW Student Services Manager provides coordination for student services within the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Program in the UNC School of Social Work. The BSW Student Services Manager reports to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education, and supports key functions across the undergraduate student experience, including admissions and recruitment, degree progress, student data management, reporting, and coordination with University offices.

As the BSW program scales to full implementation, the Student Services Manager will provide oversight of systems and processes that support students from application through graduation. The Student Services Manager is responsible for BSW admissions administration and student data management, coordinating recruitment and admissions activities, and developing and maintaining student data systems, reports, and dashboards. This position analyzes and synthesizes data across the student lifecycle to identify data-related trends, emerging needs, and opportunities for improvement, and provides actionable information to BSW leadership to support program planning, assessment, accreditation, and decision-making.

As a member of the BSW leadership team, the Student Services Manager collaborates with BSW leadership, faculty, staff, and University partners to ensure coordinated and student-centered services. This position develops expertise in relevant University and School policies, systems, and resources to help ensure BSW practices align with University and School requirements.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Management Preferences:

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating student services in higher education, including admissions, recruitment, enrollment management, student support, or related functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate complex processes.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate student records and translate findings into actionable information.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.

Campus Security Authority Responsibilities:

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.

Location: UNC is located in the heart of Chapel Hill, the best college town in America! It's a friendly town of about 40,000 in the geographical center of North Carolina. Chapel Hill is at the western point of the Research Triangle, an area of about one million people, comprised of Chapel Hill, the cities of Durham and Raleigh, and the Research Triangle Park, home of many corporate offices and scientific research centers. At the ATN Training center, students may take classes on software packages and utilities. Computer labs are available for student use all over campus.

Carolina Computing Initiative: Beginning with the freshman class of 2000, undergraduates must purchase laptop computers. The University has arranged for IBM to offer computers at excellent prices.
