This is an emergency essential position.
This is a 2nd shift position Monday-Friday 1500-2300.
An employee in this job supervises staff performing standard or aseptic cleaning and sanitation work. Work involves supervising positions responsible for cleaning buildings, gathering waste and recyclable materials, and using and maintaining custodial supplies and cleaning equipment. Work may involve supervising a lead worker over cleaning and sanitation staff. An important aspect of this work involves ensuring efficiency in the custodial unit’s work processes and recommending improvements that meet operational needs. Work is performed under the general direction of a custodial services manager or administrative supervisor, and is reviewed through meetings, reports, observation, and quality of completed work.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: interfacing effectively with campus customers, the public and management on a daily basis, training/coaching custodians both 1:1 and in group settings, ensuring compliance to departmental objectives, policy & procedures, demonstrating advanced competency/knowledge in the use of custodial supplies and modern cleaning equipment, and may occasionally perform custodial work when emergency situations occur or in the course of leading a team in the accomplishment of a priority assignment.
The Custodial Worker Supervisor performs/documents daily inspections of buildings. A supervisor is expected to meet daily with their manager, keep information confidential when appropriate, generate daily shift reports summarizing the custodial activity on the shift, draft employee performance evaluations, equalize overtime as required, be versed on and adhere to the union contract in dealing with union employees on campus. The employee must be competent in the use of the computer, including software such as Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. The employee must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
May provide support and direction to other non-supervisory Facilities employees on same shift.
The starting salary for this position is $41,506.00, based on the AFSCME Collective Bargaining Agreement.
