Work Arrangement: This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with a minimum of 3 days/week working at the Stanford main campus, subject to operational needs.
Budgeted Salary: The budgeted base salary range for this position is $93,833.00 - $106,555.00 per annum.

Electrical Engineering is one of the largest departments in the School of Engineering at Stanford, with nearly 60+ faculty and over 800 undergraduate, masters, and doctoral students. The department is consistently ranked in the top group of all electrical engineering departments in the nation.
The Electrical Engineering Department in the School of Engineering seeks a Student Financial Officer to administer the department’s student financial appointments. In addition, he/she is the primary contact to administrative staff and faculty regarding postdoctoral and visiting researcher appointments. This position reports directly to the Director of Student and Academic Services.
In this role you will:
Student Financial Appointments
- Enter and maintain financial data in GFS (e.g., fellowship, CA and RA appointments).
- Monitor and verify RA appointment forms.
- Monitor and verify enrollment of funded students for disbursement and clear unapplied aid.
- Process and track SGF financial awards.
- Coordinate with the School of Engineering on external Fellowships/Awards.
- Analyze and resolve student financial aid problems as they relate to department funding.
- Administer hourly students’ time through Oracle HCM timecard
- Complete and transmit I-9 forms to Payroll.
- Verify student financial information for international students renewing their I-20 certificates.
- Issue letters to international students to confirm employment for their Social Security application.
- Run monthly reports to view all student financial activities and to track hourly students’ data.
- Create salary adjustments and monitor for timely approvals.
- Process labor distribution adjustments for clearing student and staff entries.
- Clear the suspense account on a monthly basis.
Visiting Researcher and Postdoctoral Appointments
- Review appointment forms and coordinate visiting researcher appointments.
- Point person for EE administrative staff for the processing of Visiting Researcher and Postdoctoral forms and appointments.
- Coordinate postdoctoral appointments with the Post-Doctoral Office.

- Student services experience desired.
Core Duties:
Review, process, gather, and compile accounting transactions anddocuments for completeness, accuracy, and compliance. Contribute todevelopment of analyses to be used for key activities or decisionmaking.
Identify, prioritize, and resolve accounting issues; probe beyondstated situation; identify underlying issues; recognize exceptions;perform preliminary analysis.
Run, maintain, reconcile, review, combine, analyze and validatefinancial data sets, utilizing financial reports, financial databases,and key financial information often from multiple systems. Assist in thepreparation of basic management information reports.
Identify and resolve incorrect journal entries, data anomalies,deviations from established procedures, and unusual issues.
Collect data and perform research on details of transactions.Ensure work complies with complex internal policies and externalregulations which may require interpretation.
Participate as a member of a project team and contribute tochange management strategy through communication and collaboration withothers.
Recommend, assist, test, or implement process streamlining,system improvements or work flow changes.
Contribute to development and maintenance of desktop proceduresand process documentation for area of responsibility.
Serve as a liaison to other departments to resolveaccounting-related issues.
May train, coach, and review the work of other staff, as needed.Contribute primarily through applying individual expertise.
Minimum Education andExperience
Associate degree plus two years of applicable experience, orcombination of education and relevant work experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency in basic business applications, such as MicrosoftOffice; user knowledge of Excel.
Basic knowledge of accounting systems and the internet; computerliteracy.
Understanding of and ability to apply accounting skills andconcepts.
Ability to draft professional e-mails, memos, business letters,and reports, and to clearly and effectively communicate information tointernal audiences and client groups.
Ability to learn project management skills and to participate aspart of a project team.
