Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.:

Knowledge:
This position requires knowledge of project management, including planning fleet initiatives, coordinating stakeholders and vendors, managing timelines and deliverables, and supporting implementation. Required knowledge also includes leasing and maintenance programs, motor pool operations, fleet and reservation software, fleet GPS systems, lifecycle planning, safety and compliance, budgeting, vendor management, and fleet data reporting.

Abilities:
Ability to manage fleet projects, coordinate stakeholders and vendors, analyze fleet data, and administer fleet and tracking systems. Ability to oversee maintenance priorities, preventive-maintenance schedules, vehicle repairs, vendor services, and vehicle availability; maintain accurate records; develop procedures, reports, and training materials; and support safe, compliant, and continuously improving fleet operations.

Skills:

  • Ability to analyze fleet and telematics data, assess costs, utilization, safety, and replacement needs, and make practical recommendations on vehicles, vendors, and program performance.
  • Ability to provide project management for fleet initiatives, including leasing and maintenance, motor pool programs, software deployment, and tracking-system integration. Skill in coordinating stakeholders, managing timelines and deliverables, resolving issues, and developing operational procedures.
  • Proficiency in fleet, motor pool, maintenance, reporting, and vehicle and equipment tracking systems to maintain records, analyze data, and support project tracking and reporting. Knowledge of vehicle diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records for vehicle assignments, maintenance, warranties, leases, inspections, compliance activities, vendor services, and fleet assets. Skill in preparing reports, meeting materials, procedures, training materials, correspondence, and budget-support documentation.
  • Ability to communicate project requirements, fleet procedures, and program updates to stakeholders and prepare clear reports, recommendations, training materials, and presentations.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with fleet staff, campus departments, vendors, and service providers while balancing competing needs and delivering responsive customer service.
  • Ability to resolve fleet system, operations, maintenance, and vendor issues using data and stakeholder input to improve vehicle availability, utilization, costs, and service. Skilled in diagnosing a range of automotive systems and troubleshooting complex repairs.
  • Knowledge of gasoline, diesel, hybrid vehicles. Background in electronics diagnostics. independently diagnose and repair all defects to completion in a timely manner. Knowledge of vehicle maintenance including body repair, transmissions, welding, electrical and/or air conditioning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a public‑sector environment with formal policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with alternative‑fuel vehicles, electric vehicles, or sustainability‑oriented fleet initiatives.
  • relevant ASE certifications (e.g., Automobile/Light Truck, Medium/Heavy Truck, School Bus, or Master status).
  • ability to obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL) if required by the university.

Job Description:

Responsible for managing the university transportation and fleet operations, programs, services, and related resources.

Job Duties:

  • Planning, coordination, project management, progress tracking, issue resolution, and development of procedures, training, and documentation to support implementation and ongoing operations.
  • Develop and administer university Motor Pool Program.
  • Develop and administer vehicle leasing and vehicle maintenance programs.
  • Administer fleet management, motor pool, and vehicle tracking systems.
  • Analyze fleet data and provide reports and recommendations to support fleet planning, budgeting and program decisions.
  • Assist with acquisition, assignment, replacement, transfer and disposal of fleet vehicles.
  • Coordinate with mechanics to prioritize maintenance, manage preventative-maintenance schedules an vehicle availability.
  • Work with Director, Transportation & Fleet Services to develop and monitor fleet operating and capital budgets.
