- New employees will begin on Step K ($5,451.00).
- Salary negotiation is not allowed.
- Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the CBA.
- This position is FLSA Non-exempt (may accrue overtime).
- Excellent benefits are provided to all Contract employees with assignments greater than, or equal to, 50% (0.50 FTE) and all eligible dependents.

The Position:
Applications are currently being accepted for Student Services Assistant (SSA) in the EOPS, CARE and NextUp Department, located at San Diego City College. The EOPS SSA role is stationed at the front desk and is the first point of contact for our EOPS, CARE and NextUp students. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust workdays/hours based on the department's needs.
Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.

Desired Qualifications:
- The EOPS SSA role is stationed at the front desk and is the first point of contact for our EOPS, CARE and NextUp students.
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting the success of students from diverse educational, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to greet and assist students, staff, faculty, and community members in a professional and welcoming manner at the front desk of the EOPS Department.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive student information in accordance with FERPA guidelines.
- Knowledge of the mission, services, and eligibility requirements of the Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS), CARE and NextUp programs.
- Experience working in customer service, reception, office, educational, or student support environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams) and familiarity with office equipment such as phones, computers, printers, copiers, and scanners.
- Ability to learn and utilize student information systems and college databases such as ConexEd and PeopleSoft.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Counselors, Classified Professionals (Technicians), students, project assistants, Department Chair and administrators in order to contribute to a positive office environment.
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish or other languages represented by the student population) are highly desirable.

Conditions of Employment:
SELECTED CANDIDATE IS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT:
- Submit “official” college transcripts as stated on application (even if a degree is not a requirement for this position);
- Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment (Note: The certificate must be renewed every 4 years as a condition of continuing employment);
- Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer at the District's expense (Clearance must be received prior to first day of employment);
- Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States as required by the I9 Employment Eligibility Verification form; AND,
- Attend a new hire processing appointment in People, Culture, and Technology Services located at the District Administrative Offices
