Responsibilities and Duties
  • Utilizes Maintenance Connection (MC) to process the various types of work orders.  Reviews work orders for validity, accuracy and justifications.  Provide field support and training to staff in the Academic, Auxilliary and trades Services maintenance areas on the Maintenance Connection (MC) work order system.  Works with various levels of Facilities Management administration to coordinate, assign and ensure work order requests are being completed in a timely manner.

  • Answer phone calls, emails and voice messages regarding maintenance requests and needs. Communicate requests to the proper FM personnel, via two-way radio, phone calls or work orders.  Review the workcontrol@towson.edu mailbox routinely throughout the day.  Input work orders into the MC system.  Coordinates work requested by other departments through work control phases by processing various types of work orders.

  • Perform Fleet Services duties, including processing and reviewing requests for campus and Enterprise vehicle needs.  Driver clearance requests and provide van training for students and staff.  And other additional Fleet Services designations.

  • Issues and tracks keys for Facilities Management staff and visiting contractors on a daily basis to access job sites.

  • Assists visitors and contractors, including issuing parking permits and campus directions.  Utilizes two-way radio to communicate to the proper FM personnel. And other duties as assigned.



Qualifications and Skills
  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Four years in scheduling and determining resource requirements in trades occupations.

Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Ability to remain calm while collecting information from callers.  Detail oriented, good listening skills and good communication skills.  Must be able to handle critical and sensitive issues and make a judgement call as to the priority or seriousness of the situation. Strong customer service skills required.  Ability to do multiple tasks and remain organized

Schedule must be flexible to meet departmental needs.

This position is an essential position.

Candidates selected for employment may be subject to medical inquiries and/or medical examinations to determine ability to perform the job. Valid Maryland Non-commercial Class C or equivalent driver's license is required. Candidates selected for employment will be required to take additional training not limited to Ladder Training, confined spaces, heat stress and asbestos training.
