The Postdoctoral Scholar will conduct independent research on the bulk, rhizosphere, and plant microbiome of plants and soils with high anthropogenic and natural levels of Selenium. The position will map the flow of water through sites using the Geographic Information System (GIS) to link the microbial community composition with water entering the system. The position will conduct metabarcoding, metagenomic, and metatranscriptomic analyses of samples collected from sites, and lead research expeditions to collect new samples across the growing season (March-May). Work will also include presenting results of the research and analyses, writing manuscripts to publish results in peer-reviewed journals, and mentoring students and supporting the research group.
Minimum Education Required
Ph.D. degree in a field of biological sciences.
Desired Qualifications
Expertise in theoretical ecology, microbiome analyses, and GIS.
