Then please apply for our open Accounting Associate position! The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a 50% FTE Accounting Associate to provide accounting and finance-related support under our education and training programs in compliance with the terms and conditions of contracting agencies, the department, and the institution. We are looking for talented people who are interested in the details, who work well in collaboration with a range of individuals across the institution, who look critically at information, and who are interested in making a difference in their work environment. The position will work closely with the Education Program Administration team as well as faculty and research staff to improve business processes and maintain compliance with university cost compliance guidelines. The accounting associate will facilitate monthly iJournal submissions and invoice tracking for contracts and revenue generating education programs. They will generate and manage financial reports on service agreements, manage labor allocation schedules and adjustments, and perform analysis, in addition to becoming a content expert on Stanford’s cost policies.

Responsibilities

Core Duties:

  • Review, process, gather, and compile accounting transactions anddocuments for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.

  • Review transactions, support documents, journal postings, etc.for accuracy, consistency, authorizations and compliance. Monitortransactions in accounting systems for clearing and outstandingitems.

  • Compile, maintain, and review data and daily reports foraccuracy. Generate standardized financial reports.

  • Resolve transactional inquiries, escalate broaderissues.

  • Respond to transactional inquiries from client groups.

  • May be responsible for p-card administration, processing, travelcards and expendable reimbursements.

  • May establish accounts in financial systems; prepareinvoices.

  • Participate in new initiatives, as needed such as usertesting.

  • Maintain accounting/finance departmental files and desktopprocedures and process documents for area of responsibility. Ensurecompliance with University policies, and federal regulations andrequirements.

Minimum Education andExperience

High School diploma or equivalent and two years’ work experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic accounting procedures.

  • Ability to operate computerized office applications andaccounting systems.

  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate information tointernal audiences and client groups.
