Position OverviewThe Coordinator, Student Conduct Support & Projects works under the direction of both the Assistant Director of Student Conduct & Community Standards and the Director of Residence Life to coordinate responses related to student non-academic misconduct in on-campus living units and provide administrative support to related processes. As the initial reviewer of incident reports related to housing areas, the coordinator assigns conduct and care case load to Housing & Residence Life area hearing officers, adjudicates higher level conduct cases, and collaborates regularly with the Assistant Director for Student Conduct & Community Standards on training procedures.

The coordinator also has responsibility for program support and projects related to Housing & Residence Life (HRL) staff response to student behavior and community living standards. The coordinator routinely reviews policy and procedures, recommends updates, and creates training materials to assist students and staff living and working in HRL.
Job Description50% Student Conduct Administration
  • In conjunction with the Assistant Directors of Residence Life and the Assistant Director for Student Conduct and Community Standards, coordinate the intake management of all Residence Life conduct and care cases, which may include creating all cases in Maxient and routing cases to appropriate staff, requesting additional follow-up from report writers to clarify incidents, and providing feedback regarding the incident related to policies and procedure being followed by staff involved in the incident.
  • Reassign cases as hearing officer caseloads demands.
  • Serve as a hearing officer for higher level conduct cases that happen in Housing areas that could result in removal from campus housing.
  • In conjunction with Restorative Justice Coordinator, develop and facilitate RJ processes to address incidents impacting individuals and communities
  • Reviews, evaluates, investigates, adjudicates, and sets sanctions for cases of alleged student misconduct violations in accordance with appropriate University policies and processes. Conducts regular follow-up with students who have not completed assigned sanctions.
  • Maintains records and files of disciplinary cases in keeping with applicable University policies and state/federal laws.
  • Inputs, maintains, and updates information regarding cases, inquiries, and content in respective databases.
  • Understand and follow all relevant compliance rules and regulations (FERPA, PCI, NCAA, Clery, etc.) and maintain privacy with respect to student information.
  • Serves as a Campus Security Authority. Assists with compliance requirements involving student conduct and behavior related to students living in on-campus housing.

40% Assessment, Program Support & Projects
  • In collaboration with the Assistant Director for Student Conduct and Community Standards, track trends in student conduct cases across residential communities.
  • Identifies behavior patterns and seeks creative individual or programming solutions.
  • In conjunction with the Prevention Education and Restorative Justice Coordinators, facilitate community education related to community expectations, standards, and responsibilities including the Housing Handbook and Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities. Train staff and create educational opportunities, programs, and awareness campaigns for the residential communities.
  • Reviews and updates HRL policies and procedures related to student conduct response, including Maxient correspondence templates.
  • Oversees annual review of Housing & Residence Life Handbook, including meeting with students and stakeholders to discuss recommendations for policy updates
  • Prepares and updates reports related to the Annual Security Report, including HRL’s materials related to fire safety.


10% Office Administration
  • Respond to email, phone, mail, and in-person inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Attends regular meetings to lead collaborations related to student conduct and behavioral follow-up.
  • Serve as a representative of Housing & Residence Life, Student Conduct and Community Standards, Student Affairs, and the university.
  • Participate in professional development initiatives.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  1. High School diploma or GED equivalency and five years of related experience OR Bachelor's plus one year of related experience.
  2. Three years' experience in a higher education setting and prior experience with both housing/residence life and student conduct processes.
  3. Experience with student conduct database software (Maxient or similar system), as evidenced by application materials.
  4. Work experience requiring a demonstrated understanding of conflict resolution and legal issues in higher education, as evidenced in application materials.
  5. Experience managing confidential and sensitive information as evidenced by application materials.
  6. Excellent written communication skills, as evidenced by application materials.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Previous work experience that required assisting students in unbiased reflection on behavior, ethical decision-making, values, and community membership, as evidenced by application materials.
  2. Work experience that required analyzing complex situations, as evidenced by application materials.
  3. Experience with referral processes and typical campus resources and providing consultation to university faculty, staff, and administration, as evidenced in application materials.
