Department Summary

The mission of The Arthur Ashe Student Health and Wellness Center (The Ashe Center) is to support UCLA students in the successful attainment of their educational goals through the personalized delivery of accessible, high-quality health and wellness services, rendered with kindness and competence, by diligent, dedicated professionals. Our comprehensive services include Primary Care, Gynecology Services, Immunizations, Travel Medicine, Physical Therapy, Specialty Clinics, Radiology & Laboratory, and Acupuncture – all under one roof! We are also pleased to offer additional services in the Ackerman Student Union: a full-service optometry center, U See LA Optometry, and the Bruin Health Pharmacy.UCLA's student health center and its suite of services consistently rank as best in the nation. Position Summary

Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, Director of Population Health, or designee, and in accordance with protocols established by the Medical Director, the Registered Nurse provides safe, evidence-based clinical care at the Arthur Ashe Student Health and Wellness Center. The RN delivers patient care through in-person, telehealth, and digital platforms; administers immunizations; performs nursing services within the RN scope of practice; and supports population health through preventive care, care coordination, and identification of barriers to care. The RN serves as a clinical resource to Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) and Medical Assistants, supports immunization and infection prevention activities, and contributes to quality improvement efforts to ensure safe, equitable, and high-quality care. The RN supports operational and staffing needs, including coverage during extended hours, evenings, weekends, and other periods as assigned. The outcome of this role is to enhance access, quality, continuity, and equity of care for the student population.

Qualifications

  • 2+ Years relevant experience (Required)
  • Ability to provide nursing care in diverse formats, including in-person, telehealth, and digital platforms, in accordance with established clinical protocols. (Required)
  • Knowledge and skill in administering immunizations safely and efficiently, and monitoring for potential adverse reactions. (Required)
  • Ability to serve as a clinical resource to Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) and Medical Assistants, offering guidance and oversight to ensure quality and consistency in patient care delivery. (Required)
  • Skill in oral and written communication to accurately convey medical information to patients, staff, and interdisciplinary team members. (Required)
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information in compliance with HIPAA and FERPA regulations. (Required)
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision, including during extended hours such as evenings and weekends. (Required)
  • Skill in interacting diplomatically to establish rapport and maintain positive working relationships with a diverse student population, staff, and campus departments. (Required)
  • Skill in organizing and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced clinical setting with competing demands and frequent interruptions. (Required)
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered, culturally sensitive care that supports access, equity, and positive health outcomes for a diverse student population. (Required)
  • Ability to support clinic operational needs, including patient flow coordination, triage, and adapting to variable patient volumes. (Required)
  • Knowledge of public health principles and population health approaches as they apply to the student population in a university health setting. (Required)
  • Proficiency in the use of clinical technologies, including electronic health records (e.g., EPIC), and other digital tools for patient care and documentation. (Required)

  • Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

  • Graduation from an accredited university or college with a Bachelor's Degree in nursing or higher. (Required)
  • Possession of the legal requirements to practice as a Registered Nurse, as determined by the California Board of Registered Nursing. (Required)
  • Possession of a current BLS CPR certification (Required)
