Job Description:


Budget Title: Staff Associate (SL-4)


Salary: $67,375 - $70,000 (*full-time, temporary)


The Youth Justice Hub Director will be part of the Couper-Owens Center for Community Schools team and will work collaboratively with Center leadership and staff. This full-time position will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Transformative Youth Justice Hub, overseeing the successful planning, implementation, and evaluation of activities aligned with grant goals. The Director will lead day-to-day operations across partnering school districts, coordinate efforts with cross-sector partners, supervise Binghamton University social work interns, and ensure grant deliverables, milestones, and intended outcomes are achieved.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Oversee daily operations of the Transformative Youth Justice Hub across multiple school-based drop-in center sites
  • Coordinate services and communication among cross-sector partners including schools, SROs, probation, mental health providers, and community-based organizations
  • Ensure fidelity to grant goals, including the implementation of restorative justice, youth engagement, and diversion-based programming
  • Track youth participation, service referrals, and outcomes; contribute to quarterly and annual reporting in collaboration with evaluation team
  • Collaborate with Couper-Owens leadership, Change Impact, and community partners to support restorative practices training and community engagement
  • Facilitate team meetings and continuous improvement activities aligned with community schools and youth justice models
  • Serve as a liaison between Couper-Owens, school districts, and external agencies to ensure youth voice, safety, and well-being remain central to all efforts

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree (or higher)
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in program coordination, youth services, or justice-related programming within the past 10 years
  • Experience working with cross-system partners (education, justice, behavioral health, CBOs)
  • Knowledge of restorative practices, trauma-informed care, positive youth development, and/or youth diversion strategies
  • Effective organizational, communication, and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, youth voice, and culturally responsive practices

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Master's degree in social work, education, youth development, or a related human services field
  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

History

Binghamton University opened its doors as Triple Cities College in 1946, to serve the needs of local veterans returning from service in World War II. Originally located in Endicott, N.Y., five miles west of the present campus, the fledgling school was a branch of Syracuse University.

Four years later, the college was incorporated into the State University of New York (SUNY) and renamed Harpur College in honor of Robert Harpur, a Colonial teacher, patriot and pioneer who helped settle the area west of Binghamton.

In 1961, the campus moved across the Susquehanna River to Vestal. Growing enrollment and a reputation for excellence soon led to the selection of Harpur College as one of four doctorate-granting University Centers in the SUNY system.

In 1965, the campus was formally designated the State University of New York at Binghamton, and in 1992, Binghamton University was adopted as our informal name.
