Position Overview
The Advancement Events and Operations Event Manager will provide oversight, planning, and execution for events within Advancement and across the University. The Event Manager position acts independently, playing a key role in aligning events with the strategic vision expanding awareness of advocacy for, engagement in and giving to Ohio State.
The Event Manager plans, implements, and leads sophisticated one-time and ongoing events and provides strategy and direction for events, audiences, venues and vendor selection across Advancement and the university. This role maintains a project portfolio that include signature events that have the highest visibility and distinguished attendees. These signature events include, but are not limited to, university milestones, building openings, groundbreakings, and chair installations. These signature events involve the highest-level stakeholders across the university, including Ohio State Boards: Board of Trustees, Alumni Association Board of Directors, Foundation Board, Wexner Medical Center Board and Alumni Advisory Council, President and President’s Cabinet, Principal Gift Donors, and Ohio State Athletics Directors and Coaches, to name a few.
Event Manager will have strong verbal written, analytical, and organizational skills, extreme attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects simultaneously. They must operate in a fast-paced environment with a demonstrated ability to be flexible and creatively problem-solve when confronted with challenging circumstances.

Duties and Responsibilities
70% - This position strategizes key constituent experiences, manages event budgets, organizes event planning processes, facilitates the vendor/venue relations, and maintains leadership involvement. The Event Manager partners with colleagues in University Development, Advancement Communications, University Communications, data and analytics partners, University Finance, The Ohio State University Alumni Association, and colleges/units. This position serves as an informal resource for less experienced colleagues, and works a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and overnight travel. In specific Advancement hosted events, this role serves as the key decision maker in addition to the logistical lead, and representative of Advancement leadership and their goals. This role determines reach and scope, with an emphasis on key audience segmentation to recommend best practices for reporting and data. Following an event, the Event Manager evaluates and makes recommendations about program’s future by relaying metrics and outcomes. In addition, this role will be a key strategist and partner in complex virtual events. The Event Manager facilitates special projects (i.e. implementing and maintaining digital tools and platforms, campaign related activities, internal/external process efficiencies), establishes new processes, and educates the Advancement Events and Operations team and partners about those projects and processes. Recruits, trains, evaluates, motivates, and coaches employees of various backgrounds and identities, establishes and monitors goals, provides performance feedback and coaching, and supports professional development, completes annual performance management procedures, manages performance issues, is responsible for using independent, consistent and fair judgement in exercising authority, develops procedures, assigns and prioritizes work, and ensures that the resources needed to accomplish work are provided.

20% - The Event Manager serves as an event planning resource and provides event consultation in form of influencing or reviewing work across the University community to include college/unit partners and Advancement colleagues.
10% - Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Four (4) years of relevant experience in program planning and administration, and experience in planning and implementing small to large-scale events
- Ability to be stationary for hours, be mobile and lift 25-50 lbs.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

- Master's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Five (5) years of relevant experience in program planning and administration.
- Experience working with Medical Advancement Events.
- Experience in event planning and/or project management on a large college campus with a focus on small- and large-scale events with high-end clientele.

The budget for this position is up to $70,000. The offer for this position will be based on internal equity and the candidate's qualifications.
