ICON-Health within the Office of Research seeks to fill the Senior Grants Specialist position.
ResponsibilitiesThis position is responsible for the comprehensive pre- and post-award administration of sponsored projects, ensuring absolute accuracy and compliance with university (FSU), division, center, and agency policies and regulations. This includes developing, reviewing, and analyzing sponsored project documents for accuracy and compliance. Assist Principal Investigators (PIs) with long-term planning, budget development, analysis, forecasting, amendments, and grant closeout. Serve as the local subject matter expert on federal, institutional, and funding agency policies; interpret guidelines for grantees and advise faculty on allowable expenditures (materials, supplies, services). Prepare, review, and audit budget reports and amendments in a timely manner, monitoring all project activities to ensure fiscal compliance. Act as the primary liaison between faculty, Sponsored Research Administration (SRA), University central offices, the Office of Research, and the College of Medicine throughout the grant lifecycle from submission to closeout.
This position reviews and analyzes fiscal transactions and reconciliation reports on a monthly basis, provides monthly budget summary to PIs. Makes corrections as needed. Audits and ensures completion of all post award transactional grant activities including appointments, purchases, travel corrections such as DOLs, eRDFs, etc. Advises PIs on fund utilization in order to maximize budget allocations.
This position approves travel and procurement actions to ensure alignment with PIs request, overall fund management strategy, and compliance with Federal, State, University and Agency regulations, laws, policies and guidelines. Trains new staff and recommends policies, procedures, and guidelines related to grants activities.
This position organizes and communicates personnel appointments and verifies effort certification is accurately reflected for PIs and personnel employed on assigned projects. Coordinates mass appointment data each semester for sponsored project funded graduate students and faculty. Approves personnel appointments to ensure alignment with fund management. Identifies funding opportunities, conducts research, and interprets advanced technical information for grantees. Additional duties as assigned as it relates to the grant management, business operations and overall success of ICON-Health.
QualificationsBachelor's degree and three years experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to seven years. This position requires successful completion of the eSPEAR Certification series within the first six months from start date.
