Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Associate Treasurer, the Treasury Planning Specialist performs advanced liquidity management, investment analysis, financial modeling, and forecasting in support of UCLA's mission and departmental objectives. The incumbent serves as a key resource for UCLA Foundation treasury activities and plays a critical role in advancing treasury programs, strategic initiatives, and financial planning efforts across the University. This position is a key member of UCLA's Treasury team and serves as a primary liaison between UCLA Foundation's finance operations and key stakeholders, including and not limited to the UCLA Investment Company, UCOP, and UCLA's VC and CFO organization. In their role, the Treasury Planning Specialist through their collaborative approach ensures effective coordination, communication, and alignment on financial, investment, liquidity, endowment, and treasury-related matters with UCLA campus financial leadership. The Treasury Planning Specialist is primarily responsible for supporting the UCLA Foundation's financial management, investment administration, liquidity planning, and treasury operations. The position also contributes to institution-wide treasury initiatives related to liquidity, debt management, and investments by developing financial forecasts, analytical models, and management reports. The overall responsibilities include cash flow forecasting, investment earnings allocation analyses, cash management activities, and the administration of treasury and banking processes, ensuring effective Treasury management and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Three or more years of progressively responsible experience in finance, treasury, accounting, investment operations, banking, endowment administration, or financial analysis. (Required) And
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience preparing financial models, forecasts, budgets, and analytical reports with strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills. (Required) And
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and its application to model key financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cashflow Statement). (Required) And
  • Experience working with accounting systems, financial databases, and advanced spreadsheet applications. (Required) And
  • Working experience in higher education, nonprofit, foundation, healthcare, or public-sector finance. (Preferred) And
  • Working experience treasury management systems and banking platforms. (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated advanced skillset in using personal computer business software in the Microsoft Office suite (Work, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook) to generate spreadsheets, presentations, schedules, queries, memoranda and forms. (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to build collegial, productive relationships and work across the organization in a collaborative manner. This includes the ability to respectfully debate, innovate, and consider alternative viewpoints and open to feedback. (Required)
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to both technical and non-technical audiences in written and verbal format.   • Demonstrated resilience, experience and ability to prioritize and manage multiple and at times competing priorities and project workflows in a complex organizational environment. (Required)
  • Working knowledge of fund accounting, endowment accounting, donor-restricted funds, and investment reporting. (Preferred)
  • Working knowledge of UC financial policies and procedures will be a plus. (Preferred)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related area and / or equivalent combination of education and experience / training. (Required) And
  • Master's Degree in Finance or other business related field. (Preferred)
  • CPA, CFA, CTP, FPAC, or other relevant professional certification. Current (Preferred)
