Minimum Qualifications:The successful applicant will have earned a PhD in Chemistry by the start date.
Position Summary:The Department of Chemistry at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA invites applications for multiple Lecturer positions. The positions are non-tenure accruing and begin August 1, 2027. Lecturers will teach in the Department’s General Chemistry and/or Organic Chemistry Course sequence and participate in service to the Department, School, and University. Active participation in departmental activities, maintaining a collegial work environment, and professional development are expected.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:The successful applicant will have a background teaching in both large and small classes utilizing active learning pedagogy. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills are essential. Strong applicants will have the ability to utilize technology in teaching.
Competitive applicants will demonstrate: (1) evidence of effective teaching in a variety of instructional settings, including the use of active and inclusive teaching practices; (2) the ability to effectively integrate instructional technology into teaching; (3) the ability and willingness to work collaboratively in coordinated courses and curriculum improvement efforts; and (4) strong communication skills and engagement in ongoing professional development related to teaching and learning.
