Job Description:

The Department of Sport Management (SPM) at the University of Florida (UF) invites applications and nominations for one, full-time, 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position. This is an on-campus position (not remote).

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates who will pursue an innovative, rigorous research program; teach undergraduate and graduate courses; and provide department, college, and professional services.

An earned doctorate in sport management or related discipline is required. Candidates should have experience in conducting high-impact research, publishing in top sport management journals, and seeking external funding to support their scholarship. They should be passionate and enthusiastic toward student learning and demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence.

We seek applicants with expertise in sport-related data analytics, including business, marketing, social media, performance, and/or geospatial applications. Candidates should be prepared to conduct and teach quantitative and computational research using modern analytical methods and tools. They should be passionate and enthusiastic toward student learning and demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence. Preferred qualifications include proficiency in R and/or Python and experience with one or more of the following: statistical modeling or machine learning, data visualization, SQL and relational databases, geospatial analysis, web scraping or APIs, and reproducible research workflows. Preference will be given to applicants who have a demonstrated ability to publish in high-impact journals and successfully pursue external funding to support their scholarship.

The Department of Sport Management

The Department of Sport Management is committed to excellence and impact through (a) innovative, socially impactful research; (b) the preparation and training of future industry and academic professionals; (c) engaging with the community, and (d) shaping the future of sport management. The department includes 9 instructional and 8 tenured or tenure-track faculty, who are supported by award winning advisory and administrative staff. Across residential and online programs, SPM reaches more than 900 students (over 600 undergraduate majors, 350 master's students, and 14 PhD students). The Sport Management online program was one of the first in the country and is a thriving part of the department. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
