JOB SUMMARY:
The UX Web Strategy Specialist serves as a strategic partner to University stakeholders by improving the usability, accessibility, and effectiveness of Clemson University's digital experiences. This position provides expertise in user experience (UX), information architecture, content strategy, accessibility, and web best practices. Responsibilities include conducting user research, developing content structures and user journeys, analyzing website performance, and providing recommendations that support institutional goals and user needs. The position collaborates with content creators, web managers, and campus partners to ensure digital experiences are user-centered, accessible, and aligned with University standards.
JOB DUTIES:
25% - Partner Engagement and UX Research:
Partner with stakeholders as the primary point of contact, seeking web-related support to understand user goals and pain points. Provide support and consultation on content strategy, UX design, and accessibility. Conduct user research, usability testing, and competitive analysis to inform content hierarchy and design decisions. Develop user flows, journey maps, wireframes, and sitemaps that reflect user needs and institutional objectives. 30% - Information Architecture and Content Strategy:
Design and organize digital content to enhance usability, searchability, and accessibility. Collaborate with a digital writer to structure webpage content with clear titles, subheadings, links, and navigation, ensuring content aligns with University branding, tone and messaging standards. Conduct regular content audits and recommend updates or restructuring based on user needs and analytics. 25% - Digital Experience and Accessibility:
Maintain and update content for administrative and support-level websites. Implement content and design solutions within established web templates and content management systems to create intuitive, user-centered experiences. Apply basic HTML and CSS enhancements when necessary to support content presentation and functionality. Ensure all content complies with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA and internal governance standards. Collaborate with Marketing and Communications on digital campaigns, content improvements, and user experience enhancements. 10% - Web Strategy and Analysis:
Provide strategic guidance to web content managers and editors via the project management system. Use web traffic and SEO tools to develop actionable recommendations. Create performance reports and dashboards to support data-driven decision-making. Support the development and delivery of training programs for CMS users to improve UX/UI and accessibility. 10% - Innovation and Professional Development:
Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies in UX, web development, and digital strategy. Incorporate innovative practices to improve services and digital experiences. Engage in ongoing professional development to support personal growth and team advancement. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor's degree in communications, computer science, or a related field and experience in information technology. Related experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL:
Normal Operations - Required to follow emergency facility closure and modified operations directives, and not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations.
