Engineering Technician I
Classification Minimum Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent and one year of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Job Description:Camera Inspections for Sanitary system: Weekly inspections of campus sanitary system, including pipe network and manholes. Utilize sewer camera equipment to collect data, identify problem areas, and inspect areas to assist other groups or vendors performing work.
Camera Inspections for Storm system: Weekly inspections of campus stormwater system, including pipe network, manholes, grates and drainage. Utilize sewer camera equipment to collect data, identify problem areas, and inspect areas to assist other groups or vendors performing work.
Troubleshooting/Camera Maintenance: Be able to take care of and work through maintaining inspection camera and its components to ensure good video quality during inspections. Be able to make the appropriate repairs and replace parts as needed.
Safety: Ensure the safety of themselves and other workers by following proper safety procedures, utilize equipment correctly, and wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Daily tasks include: Follow MOT procedures to ensure Campus safety for vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Determine and follow manhole entrance procedures (4 gas meter, tripod, confined space permit, etc.). Understand Biohazards and proper precautions to take when working around them (gloves, respirators, inoculations, etc.). Understand arc flash and electrical shock hazards, takes appropriate safety measures when working around electrical panels and equipment.
Training: Begin OTJ training for operating inspection camera, MOT training, Complete NASSCO Pipeline Assessment Certification Program (PACP), Lateral Assessment Certification Program (LACP), and Manhole Assessment Certification Program (MACP) or equivalent pipeline assessment training.
Requires Class E Drivers' License.
Required to follow and adhere to all Facilities Services Policies and Directives.
Criminal background check and physical examination required.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE:
7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Monday through Friday). Workdays and shift times may vary in response to customer needs for coverage and/or departmental needs. Occasionally holiday and weekend work required.
Total hours per week is 40.
Management retains the right and discretion to modify schedules, building assignments, shifts and/or days for operational purposes.
Position is considered as Essential Personnel as defined by UF Policy.
Expected Salary:$19.25 to $24.00 Hourly based on experience

Preferred:EDUCATION & TRAINING:
mechanical, control systems, electrical
KNOWLEDGE OF:
wastewater, wastewater collections systems, or water distribution
SKILLED IN:
troubleshooting, service, SCADA systems
ABILITY TO:
-Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments -Ability to communicate effectively -Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
