JOB SUMMARY:
Work with project leads, communicate with farmers and landowners. Review evidence as presented and provide a communication about the feasibility of the loss has come from Helene. Help research other data and information working with other project staff, and other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
25% - Work with the Agronomy Program Team, the Horticulture Program Team, The Livestock & Forages Team, and the Agribusiness Team to provide assistance, trainings, and other requests as it relates to the Helene Block Grant Project. 25% - Work with farmers, landowners and other to assist in eligibility determination for the SCDA Helene Block Grant:
a. Review information, available data, and provided evidence from the farmer/landowner of damage to decide to determine if it is reasonable that the loss/damage occurred was due to Helene. This may require site visit to assist in determination.
b. Write a letter referencing the information and evidence provided by the farmer/landowner if the damage had occurred from Helene that will be provided to SCDA as part of the application process 25% - Farmers may request an Extension agent to review their material and evidence of losses from Helene. This may require a letter written by Extension field personnel to write a letter of their observations and additional details of the potential losses that may have occurred due to Helene. This may include damage to crops that were left unharvested or was not marketable. Loss of infrastructure, and potentially. 25% - Work with the project leaders to aid with additional data as required. Work with others in the project to develop crop information, update crop budgets, and assit those that were negatively affected by Helene upon request.

Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.
Preferred Education
Master's in Agricultural Business, Agricultural Economics, or similar.
Preferred Education Area
Crop budget development, development of perennial crop value for loss purposes, use of Excel, R, work with federal and state ag programs for farmers.

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL:
Normal Operations - Required to follow emergency facility closure and modified operations directives, and not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations.
