Job Summary


The College of Education seeks a tenure track Assistant Professor to teach graduate and undergraduate core courses across multiple majors, but specifically Secondary Education. This faculty position, based in the Department of Teacher Education, is a 10-month academic year position. This position will teach online graduate and face-to-face undergraduate courses in Secondary Teacher Education pedagogy, assessment, curriculum, and child development; support teacher candidates in their development into effective educators; supervise teacher candidates in field placements.

Responsibilities


Faculty - Teaching/Instructing -
Teaching Responsibilities
Teach 4-4 course load each fall and spring semester. Courses are taught both on campus and in an on-line environment and faculty are expected to regularly come to campus.
- Full-time instructional load teaching in areas of expertise within the academic discipline
- Regular course meetings and instruction
- Mentoring students
- Other teaching responsibilities
All Georgia College & State University faculty share the responsibility of teaching our core curriculum and providing foundation courses for majors and non-majors alike. Faculty employees also contribute to the Georgia College & State University core curriculum by teaching topical freshman (GC1Y) or sophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses.

Faculty - Service to Institution -
All faculty are expected to support the advancement of the department, college, and university mission by providing service to the institution. Service may be at the department, college, university, community and/or disciplinary level. Duties include service on college-level, and university-level committees, advising students regarding career options, and support department-level outreach activities.

Required Qualifications


Educational Requirements
Terminal degree in a closely related field.

Must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements as stated in C.S. 3.7.1 (www.sacscoc.org (faculty credentials)).

Required Experience
Evidence of successful teaching (a minimum of 3 years) teaching experience with 6th through 12th grade learners).

Preferred Qualifications


Additional Preferred Qualifications
Face-to-face and online course design experience.

Working knowledge of Quality Matters Standards.

Experience with accreditation reporting.

Preferred Experience
Instructor of record for college level classes in the related discipline

Record of scholarly activity, publications, or creative works

Evidence of successful teaching in higher education.

Proposed Salary


The proposed salary is $62,516.
