Part-Time E-Sports Head Coach

This is a Part-Time position that supports the Alvin College FINZ E-Sports Team. This position is limited to no more than 19 hours per week.

Position Summary

The E-Sports Head Coach coaches, mentors, and recruits student competitors while supporting team practices, competitions, program operations, and student success. This position promotes academic achievement, teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive competitive environment while maintaining NJCAA Esports compliance. This position is limited to no more than 19 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruit, coach, mentor, and develop student competitors while promoting academic success, teamwork, leadership, sportsmanship, and retentionConduct practices and training sessions; evaluate player performance and provide feedback to strengthen individual and team performanceCoordinate practices, scrimmages, tournaments, competitions, and E-Sports events and supervise students during program activitiesSupport recruitment, outreach, social media, campus events, and community engagement to promote the E-Sports programMaintain program records, schedules, rosters, player statistics, and other documentation required for NJCAA Esports complianceAssist with gaming equipment, peripherals, inventory, and facilities and coordinate technical needs with Information TechnologyMaintain knowledge of competitive gaming trends, collegiate E-Sports practices, league rules, and applicable College policiesRepresent the College at competitions, tournaments, recruitment activities, and other program eventsOther duties as assigned REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Associate’s degree or at least 60 earned college credit hoursSix (6) months of experience participating in, coaching, managing, or supporting organized E-Sports, gaming, athletics, student activities, or related programsKnowledge of competitive gaming platforms and team-based competitionAbility to work evenings and weekends and travel as requiredPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institutionTwo (2) years of coaching experienceExperience coaching or competing in collegiate, amateur, or organized E-Sports leaguesExperience working with college-age students or organizing tournaments, gaming events, or online communitiesBilingual – English/Spanish KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of competitive gaming and collegiate E-Sports environments.Strong coaching, mentoring, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.Ability to motivate students and foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive engagement.Ability to organize activities, manage schedules, and collaborate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and community partners.Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common gaming platforms and software.Ability to travel and work away from campus as needed; requires a valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and access to dependable transportation.Disclaimer:
