Job Summary The Communications and Athletics Information Specialist plays a vital role in advancing the visibility and reputation of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. This position is responsible for creating, editing, and distributing written content across multiple platforms to effectively share the Colleges story, support institutional goals, and promote a positive public image. The position also supports the Athletic Department through sports information duties.

Key Responsibilities

College CommunicationsResearch, write, edit, and distribute press releases and feature stories highlighting College programs, initiatives, and events.Ensure all press materials are accurate, timely, and effectively promoted through appropriate media channels.Produce feature content for the College website and special publications.Develop story ideas by engaging with faculty, staff, and students across campus.Contribute to Marketing and Communications office initiatives, including:
  • Media relations and advertising (print, broadcast, and digital)

  • Special event planning, promotion, and coordination

  • Writing text copy for email communications, the College website, and social media

  • Provide communication support to the Office of the President as needed.

  • Sports InformationAccurately record, verify, and report in-game statistics.Manage the ABAC Athletics website, including updating rosters, schedules, game results, and live streams.Coordinate with Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC), National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), and opposing teams to meet conference and division standards of communication.Assist with coverage and writing initiatives related to ABACs athletic programs.This position requires availability for a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and special events.

    Education and Experience Requirements

    Required

    Bachelors degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or related fields.Strong writing and editing skills.Demonstrated passion for storytelling and audience engagement.Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Customer service orientation and a collaborative, team-focused mindset.Professionalism, courtesy, and adaptability in all interactions.Preferred

  • One-two years of professional experience in communications, marketing, athletics, or related areas.

  • Experience writing in AP Style.

  • Familiarity with rules and regulations for multiple sports.

  • Experience working across disciplines and with individuals from varied backgrounds.

  • Proven ability to manage projects and contribute to strategic communications initiatives.
