Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and 2 years of professional experience

At least two years of experience in database and application development using Microsoft .NET, MS SQL Server, Oracle Database, HTML, and CSS.

This position will be a part of the Application Development Unit team in the Office of Instruction and is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supporting business applications using Microsoft .NET technologies and SQL-based databases. This position works closely with technical teams and functional analysts to deliver reliable, scalable, and efficient technology solutions that support organizational objectives. The role requires strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to evaluate complex business requirements, troubleshoot application issues, and implement effective solutions. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining .NET applications, creating, and optimizing SQL queries for data extraction and reporting, performing unit testing to ensure software quality, and supporting data visualization and reporting initiatives through Power BI or similar business intelligence tools.

Must be flexible to handle multiple work assignments, changing priorities, meeting deadlines, and quickly learn and adapt to new technologies. Demonstrated analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills are required.

Application Design, Development, and Maintenance:

• Design, develop, implement, and maintain business applications using Microsoft .NET technologies to support organizational and instructional objectives.
• Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into scalable, secure, and efficient application solutions.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including system specifications, workflows, and application support materials.
• Participate in application enhancements, upgrades, and modernization initiatives while adhering to established development standards and best practices.
• Research and evaluate emerging technologies and development tools to support continuous improvement of application services.

Database Development and Reporting Support:

• Develop, modify, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server database objects, queries, stored procedures, and scripts to support application functionality.
• Extract, transform, and analyze data using SQL to meet business, operational, and reporting requirements.
• Support the development and maintenance of Power BI dashboards, reports, and data visualizations that provide actionable insights to stakeholders
• Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and performance through effective database design and query optimization techniques.
• Collaborate with functional and business analysts to identify reporting needs and deliver appropriate data solutions

Quality Assurance, Testing, and Technical Support:

• Develop and execute unit tests to ensure software quality, reliability, and compliance with functional requirements.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve application, database, and integration issues in development, testing, and production environments.
• Support application deployments, releases, and post-implementation validation activities.
• Monitor application performance and recommend improvements to enhance system stability, efficiency, and user experience.
• Provide ongoing production support and maintenance for assigned applications and services.

Collaboration, Analysis, and Project Participation:

• Work closely with technical teams, functional analysts, and business stakeholders to gather requirements, define solutions, and support project objectives.
• Analyze complex business processes and technical issues to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
• Participate in project planning, requirement review, design discussions, and implementation activities.
• Communicate technical concepts and project status effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Contribute to a collaborative team environment by sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues, and following established development and project management practices.
