The Department of Kinesiology prepares students for careers in health care, human performance, education, and other related fields through accredited education, interdisciplinary research, and applied learning experiences.
Job Duties:
The Department of Kinesiology (KINE) at East Carolina University (ECU) invites applications for a nine-month, fixed-term (non-tenure track) faculty appointment beginning August 2027.
The position will be expected to:
Teach and Mentor (90%)
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses across a variety of degree programs in support of the department's educational mission. Course assignments may vary based on departmental needs and faculty expertise and may include, but are not limited to, sport performance science, exercise physiology, biomechanics, strength and conditioning, motor learning, and sport/exercise psychology.
- Provide academic and professional mentoring to undergraduate and graduate students.
- Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities as assigned by the department chair.
- Provide meaningful service to the profession, university, and broader community.
- Foster a collegial, collaborative, and supportive environment through effective engagement with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
- Contribute to departmental initiatives and activities that support the mission and goals of the department, college, and university.
Minimum Education/Experience:
A master's degree in exercise physiology, exercise science, kinesiology, sport performance science, rehabilitation sciences, or a closely related field (including, but not limited to, human performance, movement studies, physical education, or sport studies).
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation:
None
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
Possession of a relevant professional certification or credential, such as Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Certified Performance and Sport Scientist (CPSS), Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-CEP), or Certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-EP).
