Department Responsibilities
- Serve as the frontline contact for online MSW students regarding academic support, program questions, and university processes.
- Facilitate welcome webinars and onboarding activities for newly admitted students.
- Develop meaningful relationships that foster student belonging and connection to the College of Social Work.
- Provide coaching related to time management, organization, study skills, and overall academic success.
- Support students experiencing academic or personal barriers by identifying appropriate resources and developing success strategies.
- Monitor student engagement to assess student progress and support needs. Identify students who may benefit from additional outreach or intervention.
- Consult with the MSW Program Director and Academic Advisor to seek solutions for student feedback or challenges.
- Assist students with registration procedures and provide guidance on course enrollment processes.
- Communicate important program milestones, registration timelines, graduation deadlines, and other key dates.
- Input and maintain student programs of study in Stellic to support degree planning and field placement forecasting.
- Help students understand curriculum sequencing, progression requirements, and graduation timelines, and audit student enrollment each semester to ensure alignment with the program of study.
- Respond to questions regarding readmission processes, academic policies, and program requirements.
- Guide students in understanding graduation requirements and monitoring progress toward degree completion.
- Collaborate with field education personnel to support forecasting and planning efforts.
- Develop customized programs of study when students deviate from cohort progression.
- In collaboration with the MSW Director, connect students with faculty whose expertise and research align with students’ career interests and professional goals.
- Facilitate referrals to campus resources, including the FSU Career Center, financial aid, student finance, accessibility services, case management services, and other student support offices as needed.
- Assist students in navigating university systems and platforms, including myFSU, Canvas, Stellic, Campus Solutions, and other technologies.
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions, outreach efforts, and advising activities.
- Participate in assessment, retention, and continuous improvement efforts within the Online MSW program.
A bachelor's degree and two years of experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: or a post high school education and experience equal to six years)
Preferred QualificationsPreferred qualifications include a master’s degree in social work, career counseling, higher education, or a related field; experience supporting MSW or graduate students; experience with academic advising, student success, registration support, degree planning, retention efforts, and student support systems such as Stellic, Canvas, myFSU, or Campus Solutions.

The projected salary range is anticipated to be between $44,000 to $50,000, commensurate with education and experience. This is a soft-money funded position supported by auxiliary funds.
