Research Associate

Under direct supervision of the CPRIT CCPF center PI and Director, this research associate conducts experiments for formulations, PK/PD and metabolism studies in the CPRIT CCPF. The role provides technical and operational support to CPRIT CCPF leadership, faculty, staff, and users, responsible for data analysis in formulation, PK/PD, and metabolism studies; contributes to data reporting and dissemination; and supports funded research projects.

This is a Grant Funded position.

• Responsible for laboratory-based research activities, operating and maintaining instruments, including in formulations, PK/PD and metabolism studies in CPRIT CCPF.
• Conduct CPRIT CCPF projects in laboratory activities including study design, execution of various experiments, data collection, data interpretation, laboratory supplies, and daily operations of the lab.
• Conduct in vitro characterization studies including physicochemical properties of drugs, dissolution, drug metabolism, and cellular permeation studies.
• Conduct in vivo studies including Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics on various animal models.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records, electronic databases, and inventory logs in compliance with institutional and funding agency requirements.
• Maintain all CPRIT CCPF instruments, develops and implements record-keeping systems on program participants, staff, equipment inventories and compliance activities.
• Provide technical assistance to the CPRIT CCPF grant leadership, project faculty, and professional staff members.
• Assist PIs and senior staff with preparation of progress reports, data summaries, and research documentation.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety, biosafety, and animal care protocols.
• Publish data, presents at conferences and seeks external funding.
• Train undergraduate and Graduate students in research skills.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Doctoral or Master’s degree in a biomedical science-related field with 3 years of experience in a biomedical or pharmaceutical research laboratory.

Knowledge of:Biostatistical analysis supporting formulations, PK/PD, and metabolism studies.Technical and functional principles and procedures.Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications.
Skill in:

Preferred experience with analytical instrumentation, formulation development, and animal handling.

Ability to maintain the security or integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment or water treatment system.

Work is performed primarily in a laboratory and routine office environment. May involve standing for extended periods, handling laboratory equipment, and lifting light objects. Adherence to laboratory safety guidelines is required. Some stooping, lifting or carrying objects of light weight may be required.
