Essential Job Duties:The County Administrative Assistant is a member of the staff of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension (NCCE). The County Administrative Assistant’s primary responsibility is to provide support to the County Extension Director and other staff as assigned. The County Administrative Assistant cooperates with colleagues in the NCCE and county leaders in performing assigned responsibilities. The performance of assigned responsibility is governed by the philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of the NCCE.

The County Administrative Assistant is a member of the staff of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension (NCCE). The County Administrative Assistant’s primary responsibility is to provide support to the County Extension Director and other staff as assigned. The County Administrative Assistant cooperates with colleagues in the NCCE and county departments in performing assigned responsibilities. The performance of assigned responsibility is governed by the philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of the NCCE.
Other Work/Responsibilities:Responsibilities include providing administrative support for the County Extension Director and other staff in program areas including Agriculture, Natural Resources, 4-H and Family and Consumer Science.
Position interacts with other county departments (Human Resources, Finance, Budget, etc.) to ensure effective relationships with county government.
Position helps facilitate information technology needs.
The County Administrative Assistant will work with the County Extension Director to develop and effectively manage the county budget and on-going financial procedures as well as maintaining other budgets.
The successful candidate will provide customer service to call-in and walk-in clientele and should have the ability to respond to diverse clientele.
Managing and submitting certain Extension reports and communicating with Extension administration is an ongoing duty.
Transcribe YouTube and Podcasts produced by agents, as well as maintaining social media platforms.

Work Schedule:Monday - Thursday 8AM-5PM, Friday 8AM-12Noon. Occasional evenings and weekends as requested.
Minimum Experience/Education:Graduation from high school and two years of related experience; or graduation from a two-year secretarial science or business administration program and one year related experience
Department Required Skills:An extensive knowledge of computer applications is required including Word, Excel, and Google applications and must have a willingness to learn new relevant software programs as they become essential.
Must be highly motivated and have strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task, including effective time management skills and prioritization.
The County Administrative Assistant should possess strong written and oral communication skills and communicate easily with the public and with colleagues, collaborating well in a team environment.
The County Administrative Assistant must be understanding of and able to maintain confidentiality, especially as it relates to personnel issues.
Must maintain training as required and participate in additional training opportunities, such as professional development organizations.
A general understanding of HTML and web page maintenance is preferred.
Notary or ability to become one.
Valid driver’s license and reliable, personal transportation required and must be maintained. In order to operate a state vehicle, a valid driver’s license is required and must be maintained.
