Budgeted Salary Range: The expected pay range for this positions is $104,412 to $127,926 per annum.

This is a 2-year fixed term position

Department Summary 

Stanford’s Title IX & Title VI Office is the University’s central resource for receiving, responding to, and preventing concerns related to discrimination and harassment based on sex, race, color, and national origin—including shared ancestry and ethnic characteristics—and including sexual harassment and other sexual misconduct.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Associate Vice Provost and Title IX & Title VI Coordinator, the Title VI Specialist will assist in ensuring Stanford University’s compliance with federal, state, and local non-discrimination laws with a focus on Title VI. 

 

The Title VI Specialist will be responsible for providing consultation and facilitating education related to race, color, and national origin, including shared ancestry and ethnic characteristics. The selected candidate will assist with Title VI report assessment and resolution, documentation and data analysis, and training, education and community engagement.

 

Title VI Report Assessment and Resolution

  • Work closely with the Case Manager to provide timely response to reports of alleged Title VI prohibited conduct

  • Assist with Title VI assessments, investigations, interim measures, informal resolutions, and remedies

  • Assist with Title VI procedures, including case intake and case review

  • Work closely with the Title VI Coordinator to identify support and services for community members affected by potential Title VI concerns

  •  

    Documentation, Data Analysis, and Reporting

  • Assist with maintenance and management of Maxient database documenting all Title VI inquiries, reports, complaints, investigations, and resolutions

  • Supervise the preparation of the Title VI Annual Report

  • Assist the Title VI Coordinator with monitoring and assessment of available data from reports, investigations, and findings of discrimination and harassment to identify any patterns, trends, or collective incidents that may warrant additional inquiry or response

  • Review university websites and publications to ensure accuracy of information on policies and procedures related to discrimination, harassment, or retaliation on the basis of race, color, and national origin and ensure that links to such policies, procedures and forms are operational

    Community Engagement

  • Serve as a Stanford community resource for general policy and procedural guidance 

  • Advise Stanford community members on risks, trends, and best practices related to Title VI compliance

  •  

    Training and Education

  • Promote awareness of Title VI and related policies, reporting expectations, procedures, and resources available to the Stanford community

  • Assist with the development, implementation, and facilitation of training, education, resource materials, and outreach related to Title VI rights and responsibilities 

  • Provide information, technical assistance, and continuing education on topics related to Title VI compliance 

  • Assist the Title VI Coordinator in ensuring that training is provided to all personnel responsible for receiving and responding to reports of Title VI prohibited conduct

  • Partner with SHARE Title IX & Title VI education staff to develop and implement data-driven strategies for improving culture and climate on campus

  • Responsibilities

    Core Duties:

    • Independently implement, administer and evaluate day-to-dayactivities of the unit, function or program by identifying and executingtasks and objectives, making recommendations that impact policies andprograms, and assigning resources to achieve the goals of theprogram.

    • Collect and analyze data, create reports, review and explaintrends; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions and/orrecommendations to achieve the goals of the program orfunction.

    • Analyze and interpret policies; develop, revise and implementprocedures for program or function.

    • Represent the program or function as the key contact and subjectmatter expert within the department, unit or school. Commit resourcesand provide information and/or training. May also represent the programor function to external/internal stakeholders andconstituencies.

    • Organize and/or participate in outreach activities that mayinclude developing communications and training, planning/promotingevents and/or conferences.

    • May participate in development of budgets, monitor, and approveexpenditures. May perform limited forecasting and providerecommendations that determine the budget.

    • May direct staff to perform various tasks and assignments. Mayalso supervise staff.

    Minimum Education andExperience

    Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, orcombination of education and relevant experience.
