Job Description:

The Department of Physics at the University of Florida invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate to conduct research on topics related to supermassive black hole astrophysics under the mentorship of Prof. Laura Blecha. Preference will be given to candidates with experience and/or interest in modeling gravitational-wave or multi-messenger source populations, the cosmological evolution of black holes and galaxies, or other topics that overlap with the research of Blecha's group. The preferred start date is August 16, 2027. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in astronomy, physics, or a closely related field at the time of appointment.

The position is renewable annually for two years and may be extended to a third year, subject to satisfactory performance and the availability of funds. A salary of $60,000 and travel funding will be provided, as well as a full benefits package. The successful candidate will have access to the state-of-the-art HiPerGator computing cluster: (it.ufl.edu/rc/hipergator/). The Physics and Astronomy Departments at the University of Florida have active research groups in numerous areas of astrophysics.

Required Qualifications:

Ph.D. in astronomy, physics, or a closely related field at the time of appointment.

Preferred:
