Job Description:

Position Title: Associate or Full Professor

Department/Division: School of Computing

The School of Computing in the Thomas J. Watson College of Engineering and Applied Science at Binghamton University (The State University of New York at Binghamton) invites applications for a tenure-track positions at the Associate and Full Professor level with an expected start date of January 1, 2027. We are looking for excellent candidates in the area of AI and Society.

We invite candidates in areas including, but not limited to:

AI Safety, Trustworthiness, and Adversarial Systems: Research on adversarial manipulation of AI systems, bot detection, coordinated inauthentic behavior, platform integrity, and mechanisms for building robust and trustworthy AI systems at scale.

Advanced Computing Methods and Hardware for Scalable, Safe, and Responsible AI: Research on advanced computing methods enabling energy efficient high performance computing, quantum computing, agentic computing, edge computing, and provably safe computing hardware and software for scalable, safe, and responsible AI systems.

Software Engineering with AI: Research on software engineering methods with AI tools including but not limited to large language models, AI agents, and complex agentic systems.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related discipline by the appointment date. Strong evidence of research accomplishments and commitment to teaching are essential.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications (Required)

• Ph.D. in computer science or a relevant field by December 31, 2026
• Record of research
• College-level teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications (Optional)

The following qualifications are preferred but not required:

• Academic research credentials in publications and sponsored research
• Educational or teaching experience in a U.S.-based setting
