Job Summary
The Department of Liberal Studies at the Lebanese American University (LAU) invites applications for a Full-Time position in Artificial Intelligence (AI) within the renewed Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) curriculum, under the AI pillar. The position may be filled at the Lecturer, Assistant/Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor of Practice level, depending on qualifications and experience.
We seek an innovative educator who can engage non-specialist undergraduates in understanding contemporary digital tools, foundational AI concepts, and the ethical, cultural, and social implications of emerging technologies. The successful candidate will teach, coordinate, and propose new courses related to AI and Digital Literacy and is expected to mentor undergraduate students—particularly those completing Honors Capstone projects. Teaching will be assigned on both Beirut and Byblos campuses.

Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate courses in AI and related areas. Supervise senior study projects, capstones, and student research. Supervise and coordinate practicum experiences and support students in their professional development. Advise and mentor undergraduate students. Engage actively in service to the program, department, School, University, and profession, including committee and governance activities. Contribute to the development, assessment, and continuous improvement of the program and its curriculum. Develop partnerships with schools, educational institutions, and relevant professional organizations, as appropriate. Seek external funding and contribute to grant development and other externally funded initiatives. Contribute to the department's research goals through scholarly research, publication, and other professional and academic activities. Participate in accreditation, quality assurance, recruitment, and other departmental or institutional initiatives, as appropriate. Undertake additional academic and service responsibilities as determined by the department in light of its needs and priorities. Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a closely related field. Demonstrated experience in teaching or professional practice related to AI or Digital Literacy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching non-specialist and interdisciplinary audiences at the undergraduate level. Evidence of innovative, hands-on pedagogy or experiential teaching. Solid foundation in AI/ML and data engineering; familiarity with unstructured data (text, image, audio, video) is an asset. Proficiency in Python and experience with data visualization or analytics tools (e.g., RapidMiner, Tableau, PowerBI, …). Strong command of English and demonstrated collaboration, organizational, and communication skills. Awareness of and sensitivity to ethical and societal implications of AI and technology.
