Description:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages multiple capital improvement and renovation projects through planning, design, bidding, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Assists with project budgeting, cost estimating, scheduling, and construction administration.
  • Coordinates project meetings with University administration, consultants, contractors, and user groups.
  • Reviews contractor submittals, shop drawings, requests for information (RFIs), change orders, payment applications, and closeout documentation.
  • Coordinates third-party testing and special inspections required by New York State and local jurisdictions.
  • Prepares punch lists and monitor corrective work through project completion.
  • Coordinates furniture procurement, delivery, and installation for renovation projects.
  • Tracks project budgets, schedules, and expenditures, and prepares status reports for management.
  • Develops design layouts and construction drawings utilizing AutoCAD.
  • Maintains and updates campus building floor plans, utility maps, campus maps, and related facilities documentation.
  • Maintains archives of construction drawings, specifications, permits, submittals, operation manuals, and project records.
  • Conducts research on existing building conditions and prepares drawings and documentation for renovation and maintenance projects.
  • Verifies compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), New York State Building Code, Fire Code, Energy Code, and applicable University design standards.
  • Prepares bid drawings, project specifications, and supporting documentation for contractor bidding and contractor procurement.
  • Interfaces with local, county, and state agencies regarding permits, code compliance, inspections, and regulatory approvals.
  • Prepares required reports and documentation, including permit applications, Fire Department plans, NYSED building inventory reports, Dormitory Authority documentation, and other regulatory submissions.
  • Operates and maintains departmental large-format plotting equipment.
  • Maintains vendor catalogs, material samples, finish standards, and product libraries.
  • Prepares departmental graphics, presentation materials, campus directories, signage, award certificates, and photographic documentation as required.
  • Conducts research on construction products, materials, systems, and applicable building codes.
  • Coordinates with architects, engineers, consultants, manufacturers, vendors, and contractors throughout all phases of project development.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Hours:
Monday through Friday, 8am-4pm

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Technology, Drafting Technology, Construction Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience.
  • Working knowledge of New York State Building Code, Fire Code, Energy Code, Accessibility Requirements (ADA), and applicable construction regulations.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD 2026, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), and related project management software.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and work independently.
  • This position requires a flexible work schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends to support University operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Construction project management experience involving occupied institutional facilities.
  • Experience with construction estimating and budget management.
  • Experience filing construction permits and coordinating regulatory approvals.
  • Experience coordinating third-party testing and special inspections.
  • Knowledge of furniture procurement and installation for institutional projects.
  • Experience with construction project scheduling software.
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS), GIS, and electronic document management systems.
  • Knowledge of sustainable building practices and LEED principles.
