LiFEsports, at the College of Social Work, is nationally recognized as a premier model for sport-based positive youth development (PYD) programming and has grown to address the ever-changing needs of our community's youth. Our work impacts the lives our community members as we strive to address the broader social conditions young people face, especially those exposed to various social vulnerabilities. Our focus on outreach and community programs has continued to impact the sport-based PYD field by developing tomorrow's leaders and workforce through teaching, training, and developing individuals in the field of PYD. Our ongoing research and evaluation of the LiFEsports intervention and related publications demonstrate the impact and differences community-based sports can make in the lives of vulnerable youth. Findings are used to inform evidence-based practices in sport-based PYD across the world.

The LifeSports Assistant Director will work in LiFEsports at the College of Social Work, and will independently coordinate, manage, supervise, and implement LiFEsports community outreach programs (currently 5). Specific activities include the coordination of program operations, the supervision of all assistant directors, program managers, and summer program site managers, developing and implementing youth record collection (attendance, registration, etc.), and developing trainings and preparing staff in proper implementation of program curricula, evidence-based practices, safety procedures, and other University policies. This position will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with community program funders and partners to sustain and grow sport-based social skills programming for underserved youth. Please note that this position will require night and weekend hours.

The LifeSports Assistant Director will coordinate, manage, and implement LiFEsports community-based outreach programs and interventions under the direction of the LiFEsports Associate Director. These outreach programs, interventions and clinics engage, and support youth community members and organizational partners. This position will assist the LiFEsports Associate Director in developing, coordinating, and evaluating for impact community-based outreach and educational programs in Central Ohio and surrounding communities. As many of our program activities are led by community partners and organizations, working under the direction ofLiFEsports leadership, this position will be responsible for the recruitment and development of community partnerships among our local stakeholders including, but not limited to, school, county, park and recreational, and non-profit leaders. This position seeks out new community resources to leverage new partners and supports and manages the conununity and University partnerships. This position facilitates communication, planning, sustainability, and next steps within these community programs by developing relationships with funders, partners, volunteers, and other stakeholders. Additionally, the LiFEsports Assistant Director promotes the mission of LiFEsports within the University and among community stakeholders to further develop relationships and serves as the organization's liaison with volunteers, staff, partners and the community.

The LifeSports Assistant Director develops and updates procedures for interviewing, hiring, training, and evaluating professional and support staff for assigned community outreach programs. This role will be responsible for the daily supervision of all program managers. (2 full-time staff and 4 students and indirectly 125 seasonal employees) This position will be responsible for the recruitment and selection of all LiFEsports interns/field placement students and will provide ongoing professional development for these students.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 6 years of relevant experience required.

Desired Qualifications

5-10 years of relevant experience preferred. Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable.

Master's degree in social work, education, psychology, public health, kinesiology, human sciences, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The salary for this position will commensurate with experience, internal equity, and available funding. This is a term position contingent upon the ongoing availability of external funding.

Duties Description/ Responsibilities

Program Management, Partnership Development & Engagement: Coordinate and implement the operations of community based LiFEsports outreach programs through the development of policies and procedures for the operation of individual programs, ensure their implementation and monitors budget expenditures. The LifeSports Assistant Director will set an annual program calendar that includes summer programming and year-round clinics for youth. Specific responsibilities include the coordination of all program registration events, staff training, supervision of site managers, and development and implementation of program curricula. These outreach programs and clinics engage and support youth community members and are implemented in partnership with community organizations and systems. This position will assist LiFEsports Associate Director in developing and coordinating community-based outreach and educational programs in Central Ohio and surrounding communities. As LiFEsports grows, this position will also be responsible for assisting licensed LiFEsports program outside of Central Ohio. The LifeSports Assistant Director will manage the substantial community and University partnerships with funders, partners, volunteers, and other stakeholders to facilitate communication, planning, sustainability, and next steps within these conununity programs. This will include facilitating pre- and post-program planning meetings, resolving conflict related to policies when needed, and working with the LiFEsports Research team to ensure impact reports are provided to each partner when requested. This position will be responsible for the recruitment and development of community partnerships of our local stakeholders including, but not limited to, school, county, park and recreational, and non-profit leaders. This position seeks out new community resources to leverage new partners. Staff Management/Supervision: The LifeSports Assistant Director develops and updates procedures for interviewing, hiring, training, and evaluating professional and support staff for assigned community outreach programs. This role will be responsible for the daily supervision of all assistant directors of programming and program managers. (2 full-time staff and 4 students and indirectly 125 seasonal employees) This position will be responsible for the recruitment and selection of all LiFEsports interns/field placement students and will provide ongoing professional development for these students.

Program Evaluation Support: LifeSports Assistant Director will engage in program evaluation and research activities related to accountability networks and grant deliverables. This support will be dictated by the LiFEsports Research Team. The LifeSports Assistant Director will ensure that all data collection procedures are supported by site and program managers.
