Responsibilities

The Senior Academic Innovation Learning Specialist coordinates and facilitates simulation-based learning, faculty development, and experiential learning initiatives that prepare students and faculty to engage effectively with Florida’s child welfare system. Key responsibilities include:

Planning and coordinating simulation experiences in the Experiential Learning Lab and at university locations throughout Florida, including scheduling, logistics, university partner coordination, actor recruitment and preparation, resource management, and participant evaluation.

Facilitating simulations, structured debriefs, faculty development workshops, simulation training, communities of practice, and faculty workgroups focused on experiential learning and child welfare education.

Collaborating with Institute programs to pilot and implement innovative educational tools, simulations, coaching resources, and faculty and student initiatives, while serving as a backup facilitator for Institute learning events as needed.

Providing child welfare subject matter expertise to support curriculum implementation, faculty consultation, simulation development, conference presentations, webinars, and educational outreach.

Strengthening relationships with universities and faculty across Florida and expanding the Institute’s capacity to deliver consistent, high-quality experiential learning opportunities statewide.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four years' experience related to health and human services or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of experience. (Note: or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years.)

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work, education, instructional design, child and family studies, public administration, or a related field.
• Direct experience working in Florida’s child welfare system or supporting Florida’s child welfare workforce.
• Experience facilitating simulation-based learning, experiential learning, role-play activities, or case-based instruction.
• Experience designing or implementing simulations, including scenario preparation, actor coordination, facilitation, and participant debriefing.
• Experience working with institutions of higher education, university faculty, or students.
• Experience facilitating faculty development workshops, communities of practice, or collaborative workgroups.
• Experience providing child welfare subject matter expertise for curriculum development or implementation.
• Experience piloting or implementing innovative learning tools, educational technologies, or interdisciplinary learning initiatives.
• Experience delivering presentations, webinars, or conference sessions to professional audiences.
• Knowledge of evaluation methods used to assess participant learning and program outcomes.

Anticipated Salary Range

Anticipated salary between low to mid $60,000's, commensurate with education and experience.
