Position Summary

This is a Part-Time Faculty Pool for available assignments during the academic year.

The Adjunct, Process Technology Instructor will primarily provide classroom and hands-on instruction in all areas of Process Technology, including process operations, industrial equipment, instrumentation, safety practices, troubleshooting, and industry-standard procedures. The instructor will prepare students for employment in the petrochemical, refining, chemical, and related process industries by connecting technical concepts with practical, real-world applications and current industry practices.

This position is limited to no more than 19 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide classroom, laboratory, and hands-on instruction in Process Technology using current industry practices and equipment.Develop and deliver course content in accordance with approved curriculum, course outcomes, and departmental standards.Demonstrate proper operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance concepts related to process equipment and systems.Emphasize workplace safety, environmental awareness, regulatory compliance, and safe operating procedures throughout instruction.Evaluate student performance through assignments, examinations, laboratory activities, demonstrations, and other appropriate assessment methods.Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and required course documentation and submit records according to college deadlines and procedures.Maintain current knowledge of process industry practices and technologies while promoting professionalism, teamwork, communication, and workforce readiness among students.Provide recommendations to the Instructional Dean, Department Chair, and appropriate college committees regarding curriculum, instruction and division operationsAdhere to Alvin College’s policies and procedures.Attend institutional meetings as required. Bachelor’s or higher degree in Engineering orAssociate’s degree in Process Technology or Equivalent degreeFive (5) years of non-teaching chemical plant work experience.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Prior teaching experience at the college or industry levelBilingual – English/SpanishKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, as well as intermediate computer skills. Must be familiar with interactive teaching methods and instruction via the Internet.Working knowledge of Blackboard course management system.Disclaimer:
