Job Description
Classification Title:
Biological Scientist II
Classification Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field and three years of experience or Master's degree in biology or a related field with one year of relevant experience.
Job Description:- Design, execute, and analyze clinical, veterinary, lab- and field-derived samples using the MassARRAY platform.
- Employ molecular biology, microbiology, genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics techniques.
- Collaborate with in-laboratory microbiologists, virologists, parasitologists, vector biologists, and bioinformatics to integrate multi-omics data.
- Molecular lab management, inventory and instrument maintenance.
- Contribute to the generation of findings needed for grant submission to funding agencies.
Expected Salary:$53,000 - $54,000 annual salary
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field and three years of experience or Master's degree in biology or a related field with one year of relevant experience.
Preferred:Experience in:
Molecular Biology: PCR, RT-qPCR, DNA/RNA isolation and purification, primer design, DNA assembly
Microbiology: bacterial culture, human pathogen characterization, bacterial transformation, and mutagenesis
Tissue Culture: human induced pluripotent stem cell differentiation, human and murin immortalized cell lines, 3D cardiac organoid development, human blood-brain barrier models, TEER measurement, transwell-based assays
Immunoassays: ELISA, Western blot immunofluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry
Experience in widefield/confocal fluorescence microscopy, scanning electron microscopy
Familiarity with various murine models for infectious disease pathogenesis studies
