OPS - Research Technician

Classification Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma and 3 years of relevant experience or Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 1 year of relevant experience.

Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities

Main duties will involve hands-on laboratory work, including:

  • Mouse colony management (scheduled feeding, breeding, genotyping, and general animal care)
  • Tissue harvesting
  • Protein detection assays (western blots and immunofluorescence)
  • Molecular cloning
  • Histology
  • Tissue culture
  •  

    Additional Responsibilities

    Essential to our lab's organization and operations, including:

  • Maintaining clean and organized lab areas
  • Managing ordering and supply inventories
  • Creating and updating spreadsheets and other lab documents.

     

     

     

     

    Expected Salary:

    $17.00-$19.00 per hour based on experience and skills

    Required Qualifications:

    High school diploma and 3 years of relevant experience or Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 1 year of relevant experience. Please ask references to comment on lab/research experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint) required. Requires strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions with a good work ethic.

    Preferred:

    Full-time work schedule preferred, but will consider a part-time work schedule. Experience in these techniques is highly desirable:

    •   Basic knowledge of genetics and cell biology

    •   Basic knowledge in molecular biological and histological procedures and techniques, including tissue                   sectioning, immunohistochemistry, and fluorescence microscopy, is appreciated

    •   A background in mouse husbandry and tissue dissections would be a plus.
